Today the Mid-American Conference Council of Presidents voted to reduce the number of teams coming to The Q in Cleveland for the MAC basketball tournaments from 12 to 8 teams. The approved format will be in place for at least 2010 and 2011. Also, there will be no men's or women's media day luncheon, and a minimum one year moratorium on student-athlete gifts at the 23 sponsored MAC Championships. There will also be no printed conference media guides for any sport. Elton Alexander from The Plain Dealer has the full story here.
I agree with the move back to the old format. Trying to bring 24 teams to Cleveland got a little bit ridiculous last year with six games on one day including the first game starting at 9A.M.
