Miami University to play for men's ice hockey national championship
The Miami University men's ice hockey team defeated Bemidji State 4-1 tonight to earn a spot in the national championship game, and a spotlight on another Mid American Conference university.
Miami will face either Boston University or Vermont Saturday at 7pm Eastern in Washington, D.C. The Redhawks (23-12-5), who were unseeded, defeated third-seeded Denver in the first round and Minnesota Duluth in the second. Bemidji State upset second-seeded Notre Dame, the defending national champions, in the first round of the 16-team tournament.
Miami had never previously qualified for the Frozen Four.
