The NCAA announced this was the fourth time since 2008 that the College World Series has had weather issues on June 20.
Game 10 – Kent St. (v) vs. South Carolina (h), 12 noon ET, ESPN2
Game 11 – Florida St. (v) vs. Arizona (h), 5 pm ET
Game 12 – Arkansas vs. South Carolina/Kent St., 9 pm ET
“Playing at midnight’s not a very good option and that’s what we were looking at,” KSU coach Scott Stricklin said after the game was called and rescheduled. “Starting the game at 10:30, getting done at 1:30, getting back at the hotel at 2, what are you going to eat? The logistical things you have with it. How are you going to sleep? Then the winner’s got to come back and play. It didn’t make a lot of sense to do it. We always talk about student athletes’ welfare. The NCAA guys here were outstanding thinking about that. They wanted to make sure our guys were in the best scenario. Unfortunately the best scenario is playing at (noon).”
Stricklin said KSU would stick with the gold uniforms they wore Wednesday.
“That was Tyler Skulina’s decision, we asked him that,” he said of the Flashes’ scheduled starter. “If they’re a little bit wet, hang them over the shower.”
