Northeast Ohio native Maurer new SID at KSU
Lyndsey Maurer has been named Kent State's Director of Athletic Communications, joining the Golden Flashes after spending the last six years at Brown University as an assistant director of athletic communications.
“We are thrilled to have Lyndsey join the Kent State community,” Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen said in a press release. “Her breadth of knowledge and experience at the Division I level will benefit us in many areas.”
A Northeast Ohio native, Maurer served as the primary media relations contact for 12 of Brown’s 37 varsity athletic teams. She played a key role in the redesign and launch of multiple Brown Athletic websites, spearheaded the development of the Bears’ social and new media platforms and assisted in the expansion of Brown’s audio and video streaming on the website.
In 2011, Maurer was awarded a Brown University Excellence Award for her aid in developing a series of interactive magazines for various Brown athletic teams and was also a three-time Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Sports Information Director of the Year.
Maurer has served as the on-site media relations coordinator for five NCAA Division I men’s soccer first and second round tournament games hosted at Brown. She also volunteered at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball East Regional hosted at Providence College and also at the 2012 Women’s Basketball East Regional at the University of Rhode Island.
Prior to Brown, Maurer wrote for theSun Newspaper in Cleveland and worked as an intern at Robert Falls & Company.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism/mass communications from St. Bonaventure University where she played four years of Division I basketball in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
