Nov KSU-Temple game to be televised as part of ESPN Tip-Off Marathon
Kent State’s Nov. 13th game against Temple has been selected for ESPN’s Ffth Annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, as the Golden Flashes will host the Owls at noon in a game nationally televised from the M.A.C. Center on the ESPN family of networks.
"The Tip-Off Marathon is a perfect opportunity for our program to play in front of a nationally televised audience early in the season,” said Kent State Head Coach Rob Senderoff, who led the Flashes to a 70-60 win at West Virginia last year in his first game as a head coach.
“What is also great about this year’s event is that the Noon tip-off is a perfect time for our fans to come out during the afternoon and show the rest of the country what makes the M.A.C. Center one of the toughest arenas in the country for visiting teams.
"Our guys have played pretty well in the event the past two years so I know they will be up to the challenge to face a very good Temple team that went 24-8 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago.”
This season will mark the third consecutive year in which KSU has played in the Marathon. Kent State is 2-0 in the event, including the monumental win at West Virginia in the 10:00 a.m. slot last year. One of the most significant regular-season wins in school history, it was the Golden Flashes’ first regular season true road win over a BCS school in 41 years (1970).
Two years ago, KSU defeated Robert Morris 62-59 in an 8:00 contest.
