Kent Frosh Richard Gray Named Big 33 MVP

Gray becomes the third incoming freshman on Kent State's roster to keep on eye on in 2010. Tommy Pizzuro, 6'3, 315 pound offensive guard from Chatham, Virginia and Dylan Farrington, 6'0, 195 pound corner back from Chapel Hill, North Carolina both took part in spring ball and have vied for significant playing time this season.

Gray has some competition in front of him on the depth chart, but this strong showing and his ability to play defensive end or outside linebacker (this versatility makes him a great candidate for the "Buck" position) may lend itself to more exposure.

AD Nielsen Announces "90Ksu" Campaign

In an effort to meet NCAA football attendance requirements and boost general interest in the football program, recently hired Kent State Athletic Director Joel Nielsen has unveiled his "90Ksu: Everyone Counts" plan.

The new marketing campaign, aimed at tackling two goals at the same time, is built around increasing both interest in the program and ticket sales.

National Football Foundation Honors Three Kent Players

Three Kent State football players qualified for membership of the 2010 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame honors college football players of all divisions of play who achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA or better, acted as either a starter or significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility and met all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.

Konz Signs 4-Year Deal with Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks have inked Kent State's Jameson Konz to a four-year deal, reportedly worth $1.79 million.

The deal also includes a $43,000 signing bonus, for a total of $1.833 million.

Kent-Boston College game to be on ESPNU

Kent State's game at Boston College on Sept. 11 will air on ESPNU, and the Atlantic Coast Conference set the kick-off time for 3:30 p.m.

Boston College beat the Golden Flashes 34-7 last season in what may have been the turning point for Kent after All-MAC running back Eugene Jarvis lacerated his kidney.
