Softball releases schedule

By admin Published: September 23, 2008

Anyone who has met me knows how much I love the spring sports, especially baseball. Last year I started watching softball a little more intently as well. It’s a completely different sport and just as enjoyable, if not more, than baseball.

How many No.2 hitters in baseball and hit .299 and only have tow RBI’s on the year? Kent State’s Lauren Brocklehurst spent all of last year doing just that and doing it well, a master if the infield single.

With that being said, The Golden Flashes released their schedule for the upcoming season Tuesday. The out of conference schedule is chalk full of plenty of opportunity against some of the nation’s best. I left off the Fall and conference schedules for obvious reasons.

February 6-8 Fri – Sun at Stetson University Tournament
February 13-15 Fri – Sun at Arizona State Tournament
February 27-March 1 Fri – Sun at Elon University Tournament
March 6-8 Fri-Sun at Texas A&M Tournament
March 13-15 Fri -Sun at Winthrop University Tournament
March 24 Tuesday at University of Kentucky (DH)
March 25 Wednesday at Eastern Kentucky University (DH)

The Flashes did lose Jamie Fitzpatrick, the school’s all-time leader in home runs; All-conference shortstop Jess Toocheck; classic overachiever Gabe Burns and centerifelder/leadoff hitter Kim Hamilton to graduation.

On a side note: Hamilton was spotted in the press box two weeks ago at the football game against Delaware State. She is doing some part-time work for the Sports Information Department, while also interning with the Akron Racers.

The Flashes still have pitcher Kylie Reynolds coming back for her junior year. She will shatter nearly every single KSU pitching record before she graduates. She is already close on a handful of them.

Here is a look at the incoming freshman class as well…
