Three KSU soccer players named to All-Academic team

Via a Kent State press release: Three Kent State University women's soccer players were recently announced to the 2013 Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) All-Ohio Academic team.

Seniors Jessacca Gironda and Morgan Mah both earned First Team honors for the Golden Flashes. Gironda, a Business Management major, posted a 3.88 grade point average. The first team All-MAC selection was recently named to the OCSA All-Ohio team, and was a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American. The senior forward led the Kent State offense and the MAC in scoring with 33 points (14g, 5a) to move to the top of the Kent State record books. She is now the record holder for goals in a career (31) and points in a career (78), while her seven game-winning goals this season ranks third.

Mah, both the Mid-American Conference and College Soccer Madness Defensive Player of the Year, started in 19 games for the Golden Flashes this season. A Zoology major with a 3.51 grade point average was recently named an OCSA Academic All-Ohio honoree. The senior defender combined for seven points on two goals and three assists.

Midfielder Stephanie Haugh garnered third team recognition for the Golden Flashes. The two-time CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District honoree has a 3.96 grade point average and is majoring in Psychology. She led Kent State in assists (6) and added three goals this season for 12 points. Haugh earned All-Tournament Team honors at the College of Charleston Cup, and was a 2012 second team All-MAC selection.
