Last season the Kent State women’s basketball team couldn’t obtain its second win of the season until Dec. 18. This year they are already at three wins.
The Golden Flashes held off a feisty New Mexico State team 84-82 Sunday at the M.A.C. Center to improve its record to 3-0 for the first time since the 1991-1992 season.
The Aggies battled back from a 70-59 deficit midway through the second period to take the lead 82-81 with less than a minute remaining in the contest.
The Flashes responded with two crucial defensive stops and three free throws by junior guard Rachel Bennett to secure the win.
Four players finished the game in double figures for the the Flashes. Senior center Anna Kowalska recorded her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
