Cincy chips being recalled

Grippo Foods of Cincinnati, is recalling of all bags and boxes of its Plain Potato Chips, Bar-B-Q Potato Chips, Cheddar Cheese with a touch of Jalapeno Potato Chips, Hot Dill Pickle Potato Chips, Sweet Bermuda Onion Potato chips and Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips.

The chips may have the potential to contain metal fragments, which could cause injury if chewed or swallowed.

The recall includes:

Bagged chips with an expiration date of May 20 and before and 1.5 pound boxes of chips have an expiration date of April 29 and before. The date code is located in the upper right corner of the package.

These products were distributed to retail markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois between September 15, 2012 and March 14. Here are their UPC codes:

The recall happened after the company was told by  the Ohio Department of Agriculture that there were metal shavings found in the salt applicator.

No injuries have been reported to date.

Grippo Foods, Inc. is notifying its distributors and customers. Consumers who have purchased these products should stop using and return to place of purchase for a refund.
