SWEET CORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, maybe I am over-doing it a bit, but it is Ohio and this is the first sweet corn of the season and if that's not a reason to get excited, well, then I don't know what is. I just heard from Lisa Graf, who with her family operates Graf Growers on White Pond Drive in Akron. She reports that Graf's will be picking their first sweet corn of the season on Saturday -- their earliest harvest ever. "The first few fields of corn are sporadic so after Saturday one should phone or check our web site for availability for the first week or so after that the supply looks good," she said. Graf's picks its corn and then ice water chills it do that it will stay sweet longer. Graf's also is harvesting zucchini, yellow squash and red beets. "So far, it has been an incredible growing season for us with warmer than average temperatures and the help of irrigation. We are so thankful," Lisa said. I have a feeling, when we sit down to a plate of steaming corn with melted butter, plenty of Akron area folks will be so thankful too. Graf Growers 330-836-2727 or www.grafgrowers.com.

Citrus Spritzer works with an element of fun
I got this handy new product in the mail and gave it a try out.
It's a quirky little device -- just a stem with serrated end and a spray pump on the other end. Plunge it into a citrus fruit to create an automatic juice spritzer out of it.
Works great, and, it's a lot of fun.
Made for spritzing juice on seafood, salads, and other dishes that are improved by a little spritz of lemon or lime.
You can buy it online for $4-$5.
