The American Farm Bureau is out with its annual report on the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner to feed 10 and the price — $49.04 — is a 44-cent drop from last year.
That makes Thanksgiving 2013 cheaper than Thanksgiving 2012 and 2011, when the meal was $49.48 and $49.20, respectively.
This week is the time to put in any special orders for Thanksgiving food.
The butcher, the baker and the caterer all are happy to serve, but you’ll get the best they have to offer if you remember to order early.
Remember, many restaurants area closed on the holiday. Those that are open will require a reservation in advance if you want to dine there for the holiday. Phone your favorite to find out if it will be open. Keep in mind that restaurants that are open often will be serving buffet.
Many caterers, restaurants and grocery stores also offer fully-cooked Thanksgiving dinners ready to pick up and take home and serve. Just remember to put your order in by the end of this week.

I am always surprised when I hear folks complain that their kids don't eat vegetables.

Big Blue Fisheries is recalling two years worth of smoked products sold in vacuum packages because they may not have been properly cooked and have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death.
