Akron outshoots Michigan in first half
Akron had a 14-4 edge in shots, but the score was tied 1-1 at halftime of Friday night's NCAA men's soccer Division I College Cup semifinal.
Michael Nanchoff and Darlington Nagbe led the Zips with three shots each, while Darren Mattocks, Scott Caldwell and Perry Kitchen had two each. Kitchen scored the Zips goal.
Akron also had four corner kicks to the Wolverines' none and a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. Michigan goalie Chris Blais was credited with four saves, while Akron's David Meves had no saves and one goal again, that by Justin Meram just 1:02 into the game.
