Browns promote Norwood; Asante goes to Bucs
Browns wide receiver Jordan Norwood was promoted to the active roster after spending 11 weeks on the practice squad, the team announced.
Waived by the Browns in final cuts in 2009, Norwood spent 13 weeks on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad last year. In four years at Penn State from 2005-08, Norwood caught 185 passes for 2,015 yards and 13 touchdowns.
To make room for Norwood, the Browns waived running back Clifton Smith. They also released offensive lineman John Malecki from the practice squad and signed offensive lineman Phil Trautwein and wide receiver Rod Windsor to the practice squad.
According to a press release from Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers signed safety Larry Asante off the Browns practice squad and released safety Sabby Piscitelli. Asante was a fifth-round draft pick this year out of Nebraska.
