Finley 2nd after day 1 at CrossFit Games
Richfield resident Betsy Finley stands second after the first day of competition at the Reebok CrossFit Games at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Finley, 62, an assistant principal at Evamere and Ellsworth Hill elementary schools in Hudson, won the women’s masters division last year for athletes 60 and over.
On Friday, Finley took second in two events – the shoulder to overhead (lifting 105 pounds) and the triplet, which she completed in 8:12. She tied for fifth in the row-clean burpee with a time of 13:13.
Compiling 223 points, Finley trails Mary Schwing, a 60-year-old Hawaii resident, by 10 points. Schwing tied Finley in the shoulder to overhead, took first in the triplet (8:11) and tied for fourth in the burpee (12:45).
There are two events – the snatch ladder and chipper -- on today’s schedule. The top 12 scorers advance to Sunday morning’s event, the muscle up; the top six to Sunday’s final.
