Kent State football coach Darrell Hazell doesn't just have goals for his players on the field. He's also trying to insipre them academically.
In the fall semester, he said 31 players earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
"I challenged them when we came back in January," he said Thursday. "I said, 'I want 50 or more."'
The spring semester grades are in and Hazell seemed happy that they nearly met their marks. He said 49 out of about 100 hit 3.0 or better.
To laud them, he plans to put their names on a sort of honor roll on the wall in the football office.
