NCAA soccer: UA hosts WVU
The University of Akron Zips open NCAA Tournament play at 4 p.m. Sunday at Lee R. Jackson Field against West Virginia.
West Virginia (11-7-2) defeated Xavier 4-2 Thursday night in opening round action in the men's Division I soccer tournament. The third-seeded Zips (18-1-1) had a first-round bye.
Reserved seats are sold out, but general admission tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-888-99-AKRON. They are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Other teams advancing in the first round Thursday were Tulsa, Brown, UC-Santa Barbara, Duke, UCF, Old Dominion, Penn, College of Charleston, Providence, Dartmouth, Sacramento State, Creighton, UMBC, Michigan State and Georgetown.
