Browns cornerback Eric Wright told Cleveland.com he received death threats from fans last season, but never reported them to the team or to police.
Wright hinted about such hate mail during a November interview for a story on his mentoring of football players at Glenville High School.
"Positivity is everything in my opinion, and optimism and hard work. That’s what I’m all about,'' Wright said in November. "I know people on Twitter ... I’ve gotten the most crude mail you could ever imagine. It’s irrelevant in my opinion because it’s negative energy and I don’t deal well with that.''
Wright received a second-round tender offer from the Browns on Thursday.
