I love the ABC comedy Modern Family. But almost as much as the show, I love the characters' homes.
That's why I enjoyed this article and slideshow on Architectural Digest's website. In it, production designer Richard Berg takes readers on a virtual tour of the Modern Family set, explaining some of the features of the homes and how the designers settled on them.
My favorite is Claire and Phil's house, with its Pottery Barn look. I can hardly watch a scene in the kitchen without my attention wandering to the lamp with the cylindrical shade that sits on the built-in desk. I want that lamp.
Mitchell and Cameron's classic-meets-modern apartment isn't far behind on my list of likes. Jay and Gloria's contemporary house isn't my style, but I still love that red kitchen and the to-die-for swimming pool.
I have much the same passion for a couple of the houses on NBC's Parenthood. And when I first spotted one of the characters drinking from one of the same coffee mugs I have in my kitchen cupboard, I felt as though my taste had been confirmed.
