Emi Deguchi is out to solve one of life's little aggravations: the way down comforters bunch in the corners of their covers.
Deguchi, of Denver, has designed a duvet set with Velcro brand fasteners that hold the corners in place. Now she's trying to bring the product to market with help from investors who can pledge as little as $1 apiece.
She has a pretty strong marketing team behind her -- her children, Jack and Graycen.
Deguchi is promoting her Corner Keepers organic cotton duvet sets on Kickstarter, the online platform that matches inventors with financial backers.
It's a clever product, but what really caught my attention was her sweet Kickstarter video featuring her kids, and her offer to reward investors who pledge $25 with a drawing by Graycen or a video of a bike stunt by Jack.
By the way, she's also offering duvet sets to bigger investors.
Deguchi's duvet set was a finalist for Best New Product at the New York International Gift Fair.
She's trying to raise $25,000 by May 16. As of this morning, she had $3,000 in pledges from 11 backers.
