Giant beech to come down
One of Akron's gentle giants has reached the end of its life.
The massive copper-leaf European beech tree on the grounds of Akron's Perkins Stone Mansion has succumbed to a wilt and vascular disorder, the Summit County Historical Society reported in the latest issue of its newsletter, Portage Trail Review.

Inspired by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
I first fell in love with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint when I visited R. Lucas Scott Co. during a trip this spring to Holland, Mich. I was wowed by the way the paints and waxes were used to transform tired furniture into showpieces, not to mention the shop owner's promise that the paint was easy to use and required no priming.
