I discovered a cool new shop today -- well, new to me, anyhow.
J. Paris Designs is a little storefront in Cuyahoga Falls where owner Jessica Paris redesigns and repurposes old furniture and accessories.
Paris, who studied interior design at Youngstown State University, opened the business in November because she discovered she prefers the hands-on work involved in giving old pieces new life.
Her items represent a range of styles, but she tends toward fresh, fun, contemporary designs.
My favorites included a coffee table made from a window, a wingback chair upholstered in linen printed with the names of cities and a buffet with drawers covered in a romantic fabric. Her chalkboards are popular, made by painting the fronts of old cabinet doors with chalkboard paint.
Paris also does upholstery and will do interior design consultations, but "I'd much rather be getting dirty," she said.
J. Paris Designs is at 1835 Fourth St., Cuyahoga Falls. It's open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It's closed weekends, except for the first Saturday of each month, when it's open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
