Kick return pays off big for store's customers
Some lucky furniture buyers in Baltimore scored right along with their team Sunday.
Gardiners Furniture in Maryland had promised that if the Baltimore Ravens returned a kick for a touchdown at the start of either half of the Super Bowl, all furniture purchased from Jan. 31 until 3 p.m. on game day would be free, the Baltimore Sun reported. Jacoby Jones complied with a 108-yard kick return, giving customers an extra reason to celebrate.
The touchdown meant $600,000 in free furniture. Gardiners had taken out insurance to cover the cost.
Kasee Lehrl, the store's advertising and marketing manager, told the newspaper the retailer was thrilled. "It's great for the Ravens, great for our customers and great for Gardeners," she said.
