Non-electric slow cooker helps families in need

By Mary Beth Breckenridge Published: June 23, 2014

The slow cooker has come unplugged.

A superinsulated bag called Wonderbag claims to continue cooking or warming food that’s been brought to a boil, without electricity. It will keep the food hot for up to 12 hours, the company says. That makes the Wonderbag perfect for a picnic or campout.

Better yet, the product is a force for good.

For every Wonderbag purchased in the United States, one is donated to a family in need in Africa, allowing that family to save money by reducing its fuel use. The Buy One, Give One campaign has already distributed Wonderbags to more than 800,000 African homes.

The Wonderbag costs $50 and is available only on Amazon.com.
