Who doesn’t love a treasure hunt?
There’s one in the works this Saturday in New Philadelphia. The Heritage Home Association of Tuscarawas County is holding an antique and architectural salvage garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day (June 28) at the historic Patrick House, 233 Fair Ave NW.
The sale will offer light fixtures, doorknobs, hinges, moldings, pillars, staircases, windows and much more, all donated and salvaged from pre-1950 houses. On top of that, there will be a mix of donated antiques, but organizers say what’s available is a mystery. Even they won’t know what shows up till the day of the sale.
Got some old stuff you’d like to unload? Donations of pre-1950 house parts and antiques are being accepted for the sale. Contributions may be tax deductible. To read more or comment...
The slow cooker has come unplugged.
A superinsulated bag called Wonderbag claims to continue cooking or warming food that’s been brought to a boil, without electricity. It will keep the food hot for up to 12 hours, the company says. That makes the Wonderbag perfect for a picnic or campout.
Better yet, the product is a force for good.
For every Wonderbag purchased in the United States, one is donated to a family in need in Africa, allowing that family to save money by reducing its fuel use. The Buy One, Give One campaign has already distributed Wonderbags to more than 800,000 African homes. To read more or comment...
