Spooky silhouette crafts
Lots of tricks and treats fill home magazines this month.
Today's trendy Halloween decorations are more eerie than macabre. Black silhouettes of seasonal icons are big, adorning plates, pumpkins, mirrors and other surfaces.
It's an easy look to create yourself. Country Living's website offers instructions and templates for some fun bird silhouette crafts, including crow window decals you can make with a computer printer and special window cling sheets. (Look for the sheets where office supplies are sold, or order online.) Better Homes and Gardens has stencils for raven, cat, oak branch and key designs, which it suggests affixing to plain white plates or a black tray lined with pages from an old book. Or check out its lanterns adorned with more seasonal silhouettes.
