Energy-efficiency standards for refrigerators to increase again

Refrigerators and freezers just keep getting cheaper to run.

In September, new energy-efficiency standards for refrigerators and freezers will take effect, along with more rigorous energy testing of the appliances. Already, refrigerators that meet the new standards are hitting the market.

Stink bugs may have met their match this winter

There’s reason to be glad for our tough winter. It looks like the cold may have killed off a lot of those pesky stink bugs.

An extended cold snap killed most of the brown marmorated stink bugs that were being monitored in an experiment at Virginia Tech, according to the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang blog.
