Glad I Didn't Watch

By The Reverend Published: March 1, 2017

Slate writer, Michelle Goldberg.....gets it....

Donald Trump’s speech to Congress was just another reflection of his defilement of our institutions.

No matter how great a marketer he is, Trump still defiles everything he touches.

As promised, I refused to have my conscience defiled by viewing Trump's speech last night. It's bad enough having to read the printed transcript of the damn thing.

It's Republicans, Not Democrats...In Total Disarray

By The Reverend Published: February 28, 2017

The "reality"...

President Donald Trump may rally Republicans on a strategy to repeal and replace Obamacare in his speech to Congress Tuesday night. But the reality is his administration still has to contend with huge divisions within the GOP that have turned its top policy goal into a long and uncertain slog.

All Republicans favor the dismantling of our federal government. "Smaller government" has been the GOP's slogan for decades. The GOP, in essence, is the modern equivalent of the confederates of the Civil War era....who despised the federal government of the United States so much, they finally declared war on it. That confederate spirit is still alive and well in the so-called party of Lincoln over 150 years later.

However, as the Politico writer accurately wrote, the problem today's elected-Republicans have is that there are "huge divisions within the GOP", in this specific case, over how best to dismantle the federal government's ACA law.

Failed Yemen Raid Was To Be Trump's "Grand Display"

By The Reverend Published: February 28, 2017

When former NFL'er, Pat Tillman, was killed by friendly fire in April of 2004 in Afghanistan, the Bushies concocted a fairy tale about how Tillman died. The Bushies, as they also did with Jessica Lynch, lied about and exploited Tillman's death publicly to serve their own political goal that year....to re-elect a "war-time president". The truth about Tillman's death was eventually revealed, but not until after Bush was safely re-elected to another four years.

Less than six weeks into another Republican presidency, and I'm feeling as if we have been here before....

Last month's deadly commando raid in Yemen, which cost the lives of a U.S. Navy SEAL and a number of children, has so far yielded no significant intelligence, U.S. officials told NBC News.

"no significant intelligence"...hold that thought.

Poorly Planned Performances

By The Reverend Published: February 27, 2017

Here is contributing editor at the Atlantic and CEO of Ish Entertainment, Michael Hirschorn, talking with MSNBC's Ari Melber about something yours truly offered up the other day....

Hirschorn: "So it's interesting that both his campaign and his Presidency have actually tracked very closely to the persona that was created by the producers of The Apprentice."

Melber: "Part of what you point out is that there is an obsession with creating the arc of the story, not based on what's happening, but scripting it for the story."

Hirschorn: "He's wants to put on a 'performative' presidency. I mean 'here, I am signing an executive order' which has not become a fantastic social media meme. But he's going through the motions of performing the presidency while the substance, to my mind, pretty awful things are happening, but there is also a lot of nothing happening...he seems uninterested in what's behind the performance he is putting on..."

And The Winner Is....

By The Reverend Published: February 27, 2017

In the category of best example of how religion poisons everything, the winner is.....

From all over the world, they flocked to this tiny town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, lured by promises of inner peace and eternal life. What many found instead: years of terror - waged in the name of the Lord. Congregants of the Word of Faith Fellowship were regularly punched, smacked, choked, slammed to the floor or thrown through walls in a violent form of deliverance meant to "purify" sinners by beating out devils, 43 former members told The Associated Press in separate, exclusive interviews. Victims of the violence included pre-teens and toddlers - even crying babies, who were vigorously shaken, screamed at and sometimes smacked to banish demons.

This year's awards include the new category of best example of un-self-aware, hypocritical, what-the-phuck-ism.......the winner is....former GOP Senator, Judd Gregg....

Equally irresponsible is the approach of the Democratic senators to the nominee to the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch. It is incredible that a responsible opposition party in America would suggest that it might intend to allow a Supreme Court seat to remain vacant for the entire term of a president. This, however, is the position of Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and it appears to be backed by his caucus.

Defiler-In-Chief To Address Congress

By The Reverend Published: February 26, 2017

On Tuesday evening there will be a defilement ceremony in the House chamber of Congress. There really is no other way to characterize it. The candidate for last year's presidential contest, the person who finished second in that contest, an internationally known pathological liar and a person completely unfit to serve anyone, let alone the population of the United States, will address a joint session of Congress.

Imagine, if you can, introducing with great pomp and circumstance, a rather large, smelly swine, a repugnant creature who makes grunting noises as he proceeds down the House aisle on his way to the podium, all to gushing fanfare. And then, with that vivid picture in your mind, and with all eyes and ears riveted on what the swine will say first....the porker takes a dump on the stage.

That's what will happen at prime time on Tuesday evening in the United States House of Representatives. A defilement of America ceremony.

The Defiler-in-Chief, his staff has leaked, will be reciting his "American carnage" "inherited a mess" Mother Goose story and the 100 million jobs he has created in his first 5 weeks as Defiler....to set the mythological tone for the rest of the abominable evening. And then the oinker will spew forth his Defile-America agenda...

Evidence Of Weakness, Not Strength

By The Reverend Published: February 25, 2017

After San Bernardino, Donald Trump called for a Muslim ban. The ban, Trump said, was to stay in effect....

“.... until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

I always thought that that was a ridiculous thing to say. The implication was that our multi-multi-billion dollar intelligence complex, using the best surveillance and spying tools in the world was, somehow, clueless about the level of threat the U.S. faced from Muslim travelers visiting the Homeland.

But unlike Trump, himself, who only gets his information from the "shows" and has a nasty addiction to "cable news", our nation's "representatives" on such matters have known all along "what is going on" pertaining to foreign Muslims visiting the United States....

The Bait And Switch President

By The Reverend Published: February 24, 2017

There's nothing quite as nauseating as listening to a big mouth, lucky sperm club member who probably hasn't actually WORKED one day of his life....a man who boasted about how smart he was to be able to game the system so he didn't have to pay taxes for some 20 years....tell his neo-nazi followers this today....

"It's time for all Americans to get off of welfare and get back to work, you're going to love it, you're going to love it, you're going to love it."

This is a variation of Paul Ryan's "hammock dwellers" and Mitt's "47%". It reflects the mindset of "principled conservatives" who detest the existence of government assistance. This notion is also a corollary to the bitter hatred of Obamacare. THEIR tax dollars partially going to fund subsidies for poorer and lower middle class working American families really pisses principled conservatives off.

But..of course....it's all built on a myth....

It's All Very Depressing

By The Reverend Published: February 24, 2017

Nuclear weapons expansion, pursuing recreational weed users in states where weed has been decriminalized, going all in on for-profit, privately-owned prisons, ICE incursions into sanctuary cities, the necessity of a new underground railroad in 2017, an effort to obstruct justice, the president's personal lawyer meeting with convicted felons and a mobbed-up character for the purpose of assisting Vlad Putin's agenda,  letting states decide how best to discriminate against transgenders, and all capped off this week by Trump's address to the neo-nazis and culture-warrior freaks this morning at the CPAC gathering.

This week has been extremely discouraging. Trump's new fascism is beginning to take shape and it's even more depressing than I anticipated.

The Reuters news service conducted an interview with America's so-called president. Behold the argle-bargle....

“It could lead to a lot more jobs in the United States. ... I certainly support a form of tax on the border because everybody else does. We’re the only country, we’re one of the very few countries, possibly the only country, that has no border tax. And that’s not a tax to the consumer, because that’s going to be a tax to companies and it’s going to be a tax to other countries much more so than it is to the consumer. That’s a tax to other countries. And what will happen is, don’t forget there is no tax if we make our product in the United States. So I don’t consider it a tax. That’s a tax if companies are buying their product outside of the United States. But ... if they make their product in the United States, there is no tax. So what is going to happen is companies are going to come back here, they’re going to build their factories and they’re going to create a lot of jobs and there’s no tax.”

Fascism 101: Criminalize Dissent

By The Reverend Published: February 23, 2017

Protests against the man who sits in the Oval Office are starting to wear on Republicans and the Trump administration. They don't like them. They especially do not like the raucous behavior of constituents at so-called townhall meetings...where mostly Republican representatives have been getting the what-for from anti-Trump locals.

To fight back, Republicans and the Trump administration have been claiming that the protests are chock full of "paid protesters", "professional protesters", trucked or bussed in for the sole purpose of "agitating." Of course there's no evidence to support such fanciful accusations....but we're dealing with a fact-free Republican-controlled federal government now...so evidence and proof are not required.

Here are two examples from many....

Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz is now claiming that the crowd of participants who confronted him at a town hall in his Utah district on Thursday night included a large contingent of paid agitators from out of state.
