UPDATED Again...with a new twist...
Conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan, from a post on February 12th, responding to this take on the Keystone Kop embarassment for the Republican Party over Judd Gregg's withdrawal from the Commerce Secretary job.....
"This much is now clear. Their (the GOP) clear and open intent is to do all they can, however they can, to sabotage the new administration (and the economy to boot). They want failure. Even now. Even after the last eight years. Even in a recession as steeply dangerous as this one. There are legitimate debates to be had; and then there is the cynicism and surrealism of total political war. We now should have even less doubt about what kind of people they are. And the mountain of partisan vitriol Obama will have to climb every day of the next four or eight years." Link
And this from conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan, also from February 12th...
"I have to say even I am a little taken aback by the force of the Republican assault. Even in a downturn as swift and alarming as this one, even after an election that clearly favored one approach over another, even after the most conciliatory efforts by an incoming president in memory, these people have gone to war against the president. The president should stay cool. The rest of us should realize what motivates the GOP: the opportunism of selective ideology." Link
The Reverend, not a conservative blogger, wrote this February 8th....
"Looking at that chart and then comparing it to what the Republicans have been doing to stop, or water down until ineffective, Obama's plan, leads me to only one conclusion. The GOP would rather our American standard of living be irreparably harmed, bringing huge swaths of our population down to near third world conditions…..RATHER THAN TAKE THE CHANCE OF ENDURING A SUCCESSFUL OBAMA PRESIDENCY."
1) Who said that conservative and liberal bloggers can't agree on stuff?
2) Aren't you glad that The Reverend is slightly ahead of the curve on important things like this?
UPDATE: And right on time....Knee Pad Villager blog site, The Politico, ....tells us how the clusterf*ck that was Gregg's acceptance-then-rejection of Commerce....."provided the GOP with a new rallying cry".
I think I can hear a faint echo of that "rallying cry".....and it sounds a little like...'f*ck Obama and f*ck America.'
Forgive my crudeness.....but that's what I'm hearing.
"The census controversy brings the first test of accountability and oversight in the new administration."
It's all about the Census.
UPDATE: With new twist.
Judd Gregg has Jack Abramoff connections. That might explain why he said he wouldn't run again in 2010. Excellent overview here.
