What Would Jesus Say?
Gallup has come out with a new poll-map, by state, showing the importance of religion in Americans' daily lives. It seems that, on average, 65% of Americans consider religion important in their daily lives while 35% do not. Ohio ranks 25th, with Ohioans considering religion to be important in their daily lives by 65%.

Heads We Win, Tails You Lose
Obama won the election....Democrats increased their majorities in the Congress....so minority Republicans should get their way on all new policy decisions.
Obama campaigned on closing Guantanomo and ending torture, and won the election.....so Gitmo should stay open and torture continued.

Losers Insist On Their Policies
All the Villagers have banded together once again to worship their non-existent god...bipartisanship. Fearing that a successful "New, New Deal" from Obama and the Democratic Congressional majority will relegate GOP'ers to the dustbin of irrelevancy for a generation.....Villagers and conservative usual suspects everywhere are religiously chanting their magic obstructionistic word, bipartisanship. To listen to the chanting, and as I have blogged about previously, majority Democrats shouldn't be allowed to govern from a position of majority power.....Democrats should let the minority party have it's way in all legislation, or at least, some of it's way.
This is an odd phenomenon, really. Villagers, a group subject to radical bouts of amnesia, mysteriously, forgot all about their god of worship, bipartisanship, during the last 8 years. For example, instead of incessant braying for bipartisanship to end the Iraq quagmire, a position a majority of Americans have held for a couple of years, Knee Padders and GOP politicos stood, unmoveably, on the side of the minority position held by the neo-cons.....stay the course. Instead of calling for bipartisanship when Bush vetoed several popular Congressional initiatives, Villagers praised Bush for being resolute.

Government Choices On The Economy
I see all the usual suspects, Republicans named Boehner and Cantor, Blue Dog Democrats who are actually Republicans in drag, and my favorite Knee Pad Media Pod People, are all clutching pearls and wringing hands over President Obama's plan to prop up the American economy with over $800 billion in spending.
As I see the situation, there are really only two choices.

Obama Inaugural Address: Indictment of Bush/Cheney
Obama was inspirational in his Inauguration Speech. One thread was woven throughout.....a complete and utter rejection of the last 8 years of presidential leadership.

Rovianism....Israeli Style
Night after night during the Vietnam conflict, American news programs displayed pictures and gave firsthand reports from the quagmire there. Naturally, hawkish politicos complained that the media was skewing their coverage, turning Americans against the mindless conflict in the jungles of southeast Asia.

Change
In the 1968 presidential race, Alabama Governor George Wallace ran his independent campaign appealing specifically to those who hated Martin Luther King Jr. and civil-rights leaders like him. Wallace, unbelievably, carried five southern states and won 10 million popular votes in 1968. That happened only forty years ago.
Today, America honors the righteous life-work of MLK. Tomorrow America inaugurates it's first black president, Barack Obama.

Hayden:Too Risky To Be Held Accountable
A new, and evil, mind-virus is raging in America. The virus was contracted first inside the executive branch, the branch of government over the past 8 years that has insisted on "unitary executive" status. The "unitary executive", in short, is an extra-constitutional notion declaring that any and all decisions made by the president for "national security" reasons supercede any and all existing American laws. In actuality, the "unitary" doctrine is simply disgraced president Richard Nixon's, "if the president does it, it's not illegal", sentiment....warmed over in some new petri dish labeled "neo-conservative."
The new virus quickly spread to the media Villagers, a group extremely susceptible to Republican presidential claims of being above the law. These Villagers, then, methodically and faithfully spread the destructive virus on to the American public. Severe outbreaks of this virus have been witnessed recently, intensifying because Villagers aren't sure whether the newly elected president has really contracted the virus, or whether he's immune.

A Review + Specter's Knee Padder Moment
A brief review....
Since November 4th, last, the small group of Republicans left in Congress, their corporate media lapdogs leashed up tight, have gone about, non-stop, trying to diminish, discredit, and in some cases, delegitimize Obama's presidency and his larger Democratic majority in Congress.

Obama's Muted Response To Gaza Crisis
About-to-be president, Barack Obama, has had no problem communicating with other governmental leaders and the American people about his intentions in dealing with the collapsed economy. Obama has boldly, and repeatedly, told us how he intends to "jump-start" the economy, as well as "save" or "create" up to 4 million new jobs with a large stimulus package.....all in order to prevent the "second Great Depression."

Being Properly Educated
Here's a 1:40 ThinkProgress compilation where Serious Experts in Mediaworld describe, in their unmistakenly serious way, how the make-believe script of an hour long make-believe teevee program, delivered by make-believe torture-hero Jack Bauer, should be a definitive teaching lesson that Americans should take to heart.

Why Israeli Leaders Terrorize Palestinians
I must say, the brutal and criminal attack by Israeli military forces on Palestinians in Gaza, followed by the despicable responses from the Bush administration and a Democratic Congress to that criminal, savage attack, has been burning my ass in the extreme.
There are no comprehensible justifications for the wicked responses from American leaders. None whatsoever. Unquestioningly supporting, nay...cheering on, Israel's crime, does not, in any non-maniacal way of thinking, serve any legitimate American purposes. It is simply madness.

Trillion Dollar Deficits
Soon-to-be president Barack Obama, facing the worst national economic conditions in over 60 years, said two days ago that chances were high that the U.S. would face “trillion-dollar deficits for years to come.”
I'm not going to plumb the depths of Republican dominated economic policies in recent years that have left us with such dim prospects for the near future. Deregulation, lack of oversight and the cronyism and ideology that catalyzed that lack, dependence on free market economic industry leaders to do the right thing, reckless and deep tax cutting while conducting expensive wars of choice, and the great heist know as TARP 3 months before an eight year long campaign to double the national debt ends.....have all directly led to Obama's predictions of "trillion dollar deficits for years to come."

Taking Inventory
Ever work someplace where you had to take inventory periodically? Methods of taking inventory have changed dramatically over the last 30 years with the explosion of digital communications....but back in the day, I did it the old fashioned way....hand counting and tallying on a clipboard. One aspect of taking inventory, however, will never change. The purpose. The purpose of taking inventory is to get an accurate count of where a company currently stands.

AB Journal On Torture: Not A Genuine Crime
The Akron Beacon Journal editorial staff, with consistency, has defended the lawless and unconstitutional foreign and military policies of the Bush-Cheney regime. From attacking Iraq unilaterally, to outing CIA agent Valerie Plame, to torture....the Beacon has sought to justify, in virtually every instance, the criminal actions of this hated administration.
The Beacon does so again this morning.

Patriotic, Resilient, Conservative Resistance
Have you heard about the new resistance movement? It's a resistance movement against the not-yet-president Barack Obama.
Conservative Republicans have proven in the last eight years that they can't govern successfully on a federal level, and really don't want to anyway. The next eight years will be a clinic on what conservative Republicans do well.....obstruct progress. Block the people's will.
