Don't Tread On Me
Readers of this blog know that I have very little respect or admiration for America's corporate media.

Compassionate Conservatism Dies
On March 2nd and 3rd, I blogged about the whacked out, soon-to-retire, Kentucky Senator, Jim Bunning. At the time, Bunning was the designated GOP 'foot dragger' on a bill extending unemployment benefits and federal relief to individual states during the deepest American recession in over 60 years.
After the Senate GOP'ers footdragging tantrum back at the first of March....Republicans voted repeatedly against a cloture vote to slow the process.....the extensions were passed by a final vote of 59-38 in the middle of April, some six weeks after the measure was brought before the Senate.

McChrystallized....But No Change
I read the entire Rolling Stones article about General Stan McChrystal on Tuesday. I knew after reading it that he would have to go.
The attitude expressed by Gen. McChrystal and his closest officers was one of defiance towards the Obama White House and those working for the Obama White House on the Afghanistan quagmire. The contempt McChrystal demonstrated towards any and all U.S. civilian government officials (except Hillary) involved with the Afghan quagmire was astonishing in it's breadth.

Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
This was the view from our 4th floor patio. Beach was approximately 200 feet from our complex. It was tough, but we suffered through it.

Criminalizing Peacemaking
Peacemaking is just so Jimmy Carter, anyway, right?
New ruling yesterday from the hyper-activist Roberts Court....

Joe Barton, American Hero
I happened to catch some of the back and forth last week between Tony Hayward of BP and members of the House Committee on Energy.
Unlike many, I found the statement of apology by BP's employee on the committee, Joe Barton (R-TX), to be clearheaded, honest and accurate.

Pre-emptive Lunacy
The wife and I are headed to Wrightsville Beach, N. Carolina today. We will be gone for a week.....without a computer. I know. That's just crazy. I might sneak off to an internet cafe to post something.....we'll see. I kinda, sorta promised to stay offline for the whole week, but the withdrawal pangs may cause me to break out in a cold sweat or,....you know, uncontollable twitching....or something...so, I don't know.
There's a new story from yesterday that you need to know about. The reason that you need to know about it is because it is a microcosm of the wingnut macrocosm in America today. One kinda nutty true account, proudly standing out, representing the entire asylum.

Super-Soakers
Often, The Reverend refers to the American mainstream corporate media as the Villagers or the Knee Pad Media. Not quite as snappy and smart as Sister Sarah's repetitive "lamestream media" reference....but then, I can't see huge piles of money, or Russia,...or something....from my back porch, either.
I realize that the name-calling that I do is oh-so-juvenile, overly shrill and vulgar, and, (as conservatives have warned), most likely a symptom of some deeply embedded psychological hangup which threatens to eat what's left of this old blogger's brain.

"Easy To Make A Mistake"
Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, inadvertantly speaks some truth......
Primary Considerations
There was a special Democratic runoff election yesterday in Arkansas. Neither Blanche Lincoln, the incumbent Senator, nor Bill Halter, her challenger, had won 50.1% of the Democratic primary vote in Arkansas a few short weeks ago. So there was a runoff election yesterday.
Unexpectedly, in light of pre-runoff polling, Blanche Lincoln won the runoff last night by a 52%-48% margin. Lincoln's win, even though she is currently a sitting Senator from Arkansas, was a surprise.

Loss of Life Not Tragic At All
It came as no surprise following the Israeli terror attack on the Turkish flotilla a week ago, which included the point-blank, 5 shot murder of a 19 year old American by Israeli commandos, that the United States President would timidly parse every word of his response to the act of violence.
Why? Because in this case, the needless violence was perpetrated by Israelis.

Bizarre U.S. Behavior
The U.S. corporate media was noticeably muted yesterday about the Israeli terrorist raid on a Turkish humanitarian aid-carrying flotilla late Sunday. A raid in which Israeli soldiers murdered at least 9 unarmed passengers (at least one American) after having commandeered the flotilla, illegally, while it was in international waters.
That's how the U.S. media and the majority of U.S. politicians always respond when credible reports about Israeli war crimes or Israeli terrorist assassination capers leak out.

Defending The Indefensible
The U.S., apparently powerless in the wake of the Chosen's "bloody massacre" aboard the Turkish humanitarian aid-carrying vessel bound for Gaza, has made no demands on Israel and has refused to condemn Israel for it's actions. The U.S. corporate-whore media spent all day yesterday defending Israel's right to do what-the-hell-ever it says it needs to do to "protect" itself. And I mean what-the-hell-ever.
As the entire world condemned the lawless, terrorist actions of Israel in this incident....the U.S. stood alone in it's defense of Israel's actions. Israel's lawless, unilateral actions of violence and murder of unarmed activists.......is simply indefensible.....and yet the U.S still defends it.
