Baked Into The Cake?

By The Reverend Published: August 31, 2010

While our Professional and Serious corporate media have kept us informed about every little detail of Palin's extremely vital Tweets or Glenny's messianic tears.....they haven't had much to tell us about what's baking in the backroom oven in D.C.

If you are currently 55 or younger, you should know that the cake baking down in D.C is being baked for you. And it's sugarless.

What Palin Has Wrought

By The Reverend Published: August 30, 2010

It's not all her fault.....Sarah Palin's that is. The corporate teevee media bear quite a bit of the responsibility as well.

Remember how Sister Sarah of the Wasilla Hillbillies went all Shakespere on us with her June 20th, "Peaceful Muslims pls refutiate" Tweet? What the 1/2 term governor and full time opportunist was wantin' refutiated was the construction of the Islamic Center in New York, the one now referred to as Park 51.

Tomorrow's BeckerHead Event

The AB Journal loves themselves some Tea Party.....so they decided, once again, to give front page coverage to the mostly affluent, mostly white, mostly middle-aged, mostly male, and entirely sore loser group.

Glenn Beck and the Tea Partiers. Together in front of the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary date and location of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech.

But Is It The Right Thing?

By The Reverend Published: August 26, 2010

Ron Christie, a GOP drone often invited to join in on MSNBC gabfests of little, if any, importance......was invited on to gab again yesterday.

The MSNBC yakkers were talking about (what else?) the Islamic Cultural Center planned for the old Burlington Coat Factory building a couple of blocks and around the corner from Ground Zero.

Speaking In Political Tongues

By The Reverend Published: August 25, 2010

We're in the lull before the September and October political storms hit us. It's all going to be just so freakin' great.

While we're waiting, allow me to don my Reverend hat for a bit.

Hallowed Ground? Really?

By The Reverend Published: August 24, 2010

Republican candidates for this fall's midterms have nothing to offer prospective voters. At least, nothing new.

Republicans want to cut taxes even further, and yet, those same Republicans have no plan for paying for the resultant huge deficit those tax cuts will continue to create. Simultaneously, Republicans midterm campaign plan is to attack Democrats unceasingly for deficit spending.

Government By Hysteria

By The Reverend Published: August 20, 2010

We're about 10 weeks away from the midterm election and all political indicators suggest that Republicans stand to gain ground against Democrats in Congress this November. Nothing unusual for a new president's party to lose seats in the midterms. Everyone's question, naturally, has been: how many seats?

Republicans need a 39 seat pickup in the House to gain the majority, ushering in (if one can even believe it) Speaker John Boehner. Even though I'm still skeptical of claims that the GOP will retake the House.....it is going to be close.

"Mission Accomplished", The Sequel

By The Reverend Published: August 19, 2010

While the nation's most intelligent and influential minds are lining up on either side of a non-story, non-issue: whether fee-fees (sensitivities) are more important than the rule of law when deciding whether New York Muslims have guaranteed constitutional rights.....I want to take this time to comment on last night's MSNBC "coverage" of the last American combat troops leaving Iraq.

The words "breaking news" have no meaning anymore......I realize that.....but last night's MSNBC's breaking news-that-wasn't....was a sad reminder of another manufactured and embarassing photo-op moment concerning Iraq.

"Bulldog" Political Theater

By The Reverend Published: August 18, 2010

Or, perhaps, Fractured Political Fairy Tales. I couldn't decide on the title.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald prosecuted the Lewis Scooter Libby case. That was the case where Dick Cheney's office orchestrated the outing of CIA agent, Valerie Plame. Cheney's office had Ms. Plame outed at the time to scare any other potential whistleblower's in the CIA, or other intelligence outfits, away from coming forward in 2003 to explain how Cheney had ginned up the fraudulent stories about Saddam Hussein and Iraq being an imminent danger to the U.S.

No, It's Not About The Fee-Fees

By The Reverend Published: August 17, 2010

First, sensitivities replaced America's rule of law in the non-issue of an Islamic Center in Manhattan.

Yes...maybe....New York Muslims had the right.....but was it the right thing to do? That seemed to be the early "argument" by conservatives and Republicans who didn't want to seem too xenophobic, too early, as they worked to scare voters into coming out in November.

Mosques Are Really IED's

By The Reverend Published: August 12, 2010

I wasn't aware of it. So, it came somewhat as a surprise. What, you ask? Islamic mosques in America are not really places where Muslims worship their god and study their sacred writings,....you know....legally practice their religious faith. Islamic mosques are actually.....wait for it....."improvised explosive devices".....yep, IED's.

First...meet the AFA...

In May of this year, President Obama ordered the deployment of 1200 National Guard troops to the Mexican border.

Equality Not Subject To Voters

By The Reverend Published: August 5, 2010

Rand Paul, GOP senate candidate from Kentucky, says that a white lunch counter proprietor should have the guaranteed right of free speech at his own establishment. That free speech, according to the libertarian and Tea Party candidate Paul, can include refusal to serve blacks, or any other race, religion or creed, for that matter.

The U.S Congress diasgreed with thinking like Paul's back in the 1960's, eventually passing a law banning discrimination in public or private establishments.
