Israeli scoreboard: 1370 Palestinians dead, 56 Israeli soldiers, 2 Israeli civilians and 1 Thai migrant dead.
How much longer will the U.S.-supported slaughter continue?
(Netanyahu) would not accept any ceasefire that stopped Israel completing the destruction of militants' infiltration tunnels.
The Israeli military estimated on Wednesday that accomplishing that task, already into its fourth week, would take several more days.
Today, Israel will bypass it's 2009 Gaza-slaughter number reported to have been right around 1400 Palestinians.
After trying on 54 separate occasions to repeal a democratically passed national health insurance bill, after House Republicans purposely harmed the national economy by shutting down the federal government for almost three weeks in a tantrum over repealing the ACA......those same House Republicans have now voted to sue the president for delaying implementation of a portion of the legislation.
Obviously, the House vote to sue the president is 100% political stunt. If, indeed, as all anti-Obama-ites claim, the president is a lawless figure who is "improperly exerting his executive authority", House Republicans have a remedy, a constitutional remedy, that is. Impeachment.
But House Republicans, if you simply overlook their Serious Angry Faces when they are railing against the president, are gutless cowards. Brave patriots who had the courage of their own stated convictions would not hesitate to bring articles of impeachment up in the House.
So what if Republicans don't have enough votes in the Senate to convict a lawless Democratic president? House Republicans in the late 90's didn't have the votes in the Senate to convict Bill Clinton either.....but they proceeded to introduce impeachment articles anyway. Sure, impeaching Clinton over lying in a deposition in a civil suit which was later thrown out of court was only a political stunt.....but at least the Gingrich fools of the 90's didn't try to reinvent the constitutional wheel, so to speak.
Someone, anyone.....explain to me how it is that the U.S. House has been damaged or harmed by Obama's temporary delay in implementing the employer mandate in the ACA? House Republicans never wanted an employer mandate, never wanted a comprehensive health insurance bill passed at all, voted 54 times to repeal part, or all, of the ACA, and even shut down the federal government over repealing the ACA....yet, those same House Republicans have now voted to sue the president for delaying one provision of the ACA.
Sorry, this is all nonsensical. Unless, of course, filing suit against the president was what Republicans meant earlier in the year when they boasted about how they would run against Obamacare in their midterm campaigning. If the lawsuit is what the House Republicans meant when they said they would run against Obamacare in the midterms......then, seriously, they are crazier than I thought they were.
Or more desperate.
Republicans were sure that Monopoly Man would defeat the Kenyan Usurper in 2012. But Monopoly Man lost. After two years of Obamacare bashing by Republicans, after voting 54 times to repeal the ACA, and after shutting down the government over repealing the ACA....American voters had a chance to reject Obama and with him his ACA in 2012. But they didn't. American voters chose to re-elect Obama, proving that they did not regard Obama as a lawless president. The battle over Obamacare should have ended then and there.
And John Boehner knows that....having said immediately after Obama's re-election that Obamacare was "the law of the land." But Boehner doesn't have control of the House....the Tea Party base does. Polling shows that Republican base voters, by a 70-80% margin, want Obama impeached. Of course they do. But Boehner realizes that dog won't hunt. So, the least productive Speaker in U.S. history has decided to meet the wingers halfway.....thus the farce of a lawsuit against a sitting president.
I believe that the House lawsuit against the president will immediately be thrown out of court for either lack of standing or for being a frivolous lawsuit....or both. But Boehner doesn't care about that. The point of the lawsuit is not that it could succeed. The point is to keep Obama-haters hopeful enough to come out to the polls this November.
And so what we are observing is a cowardly, yet out of control, Republican House.....too chickensh*t to put their political capital where their hatred-filled mouths are....voting for a political stunt that everyone knows is only a political stunt.
What is very sad is the fact that this is all that Republicans have left. GOP policies have proven to be disastrous for the American people. Ever wonder why Republicans have been very hesitant to offer up policies of their own? The answer is found in the fact that a solid majority of Americans reject conservative policies in favor of more liberal policies.
Political rigor mortis has set in within the GOP. Dead political party walking, so to speak. An autopsy has even been conducted. But reforming their party is, apparently, out of the question....compromise is a new Republican expletive....which only leaves....the political stunts.
