Romney statement after Scott Walker's recall win last night in Wisconsin...
"Tonight's results will echo beyond the borders of Wisconsin,"
Walker's win shows that "citizens and taxpayers can fight back — and prevail — against the runaway government costs imposed by labor bosses," Romney said. "Tonight voters said 'no' to the tired, liberal ideas of yesterday, and 'yes' to fiscal responsibility and a new direction."
If it wasn't clear before...it is now. As president, Mitt Romney would not think twice about crushing labor unions...wherever they may be found. Romney, from his high school days, gained valuable experience in ganging up on weaker opponents.
Union workers in the private sector account for only 7% of all workers. Public sector unionized workers bring the total percentage to about 12%. According to Romney, those public sector union workers are solely responsible for "runaway government costs"....even if they aren't.
"Tonight voters said 'no' to the tired, liberal ideas of yesterday, and 'yes' to fiscal responsibility and a new direction."
Romney can call it whatever he wants to call it....but that "tired, liberal" idea of organizing workers and collectively bargaining with employers is what created America's middle class, the 40 hour work week, the weekend, and health care benefits for workers. Without those "tired, liberal" unions....as we have witnessed during recent years.....workers wages and purchasing power have flatlined or gone down, businesses no longer share productivity gains with employees and the middle class is being slowly hollowed out.
That's what Romney calls "fiscal responsibility and a new direction." But it's not...and never has been. Taking wages and benefits away from workers and giving the money to stockholders and corporate brass instead....is not being fiscally responsible....nor is it anything new.
Robber barons have always been with us....and from time to time, like in the 30's.....and again in the 00's, those robber barons strip the American carcass clean and then point their fingers of blame at average workers. Unions helped keep the robber barons in check for a time...but no longer. And the citizens of the U.S. who actually work for a living have suffered as a result.
The way forward is crystal clear. Fiscal responsibility today means that public and private sector union workers must be punished for the depression sins of crooked banksters and Wall Street Ponzi scheme operators. Less than 10% of the workforce was singled out by Romney last night as having caused "runaway government costs".....despite the fact that we are living in the lowest tax rate period in over 60 years and are still reeling from G.W. Bush's economic depression.
Romney has no interest in taking our country in a "new direction." Romney would cut government regulations and give more tax cuts and advantages to the already filthy rich....while instigating a war with Iran and making sure 30 million Americans are kept off health insurance rolls.
None of that is new. It's the same....tired...direction W took this country.in the 00's.
Short on time today. Congratulations to Wisconsin Tea Partiers and the billionaires who funded their efforts up in Wisconsin to crush the standard of living of their fellow Wisconsinites. You won.....even if Wisconsin workers and families lost. So, I guess.....congratulations are in order.
