Looks like House Republican Whip, Roy Blunt (R-MO), will be the designated hitter against the Democratic plan to increase the State Children's Health Insurance Program by $60 billion over five years. Here's what Blunt said about GOP'ers voting against the increase....
He told reporters, "If Democrats send this bill back a second time (after a veto), that actually might be good for us, because people are going to know more about what's in the bill ... We would probably benefit from this bill going to the president multiple times." Link
Now out in Missouri where Roy comes from maybe it is popular to prevent more children from having access to health coverage. Maybe Blunt represents a children hating constituency out there in the Heartland. Maybe people out there in Missouri eat their children...I mean who knows?
I think Missourians are just like the rest of us and I don't think they are going to want to hear over and over and over that GOP'ers are voting to block health coverage for more American children. Especially when they find out the increase is about what Bush is asking for in MORE Iraq spending.
Hey, go for it Roy. Freaking brilliant.
