The federal government released a new climate change report yesterday. .....
A team of more than 300 experts guided by a 60-member Federal Advisory Committee produced the report, which was extensively reviewed by the public and experts, including federal agencies and a panel of the National Academy of Sciences.
A few scientific findings....
The decade starting in 2000 was the hottest on record, and 2012, the year Hurricane Sandy followed an epic summer drought, was the hottest ever recorded in the nation’s history, the report said. U.S. temperatures are 1.3 degrees to 1.9 degrees Fahrenheit higher now than they were in 1895, and most of that increase — 80 percent — occurred over the past 44 years, the assessment says.
Alaska warmed twice as fast as the rest of the country in the past 60 years, leading to permafrost thaw that is causing highways and even airport runways to sink.
97+% of all scientists working in the field of climate now agree that man's activities are playing a role in those severe climate changes. Carbon pollution from fossil fuel use being the most significant contributor.
The release of yesterday's report comes only a few days after this ruling confirming that the EPA has the authority to regulate carbon pollution....
The U.S. Supreme Court April 29 reinstated an Environmental Protection Agency rule intended to cost-effectively reduce pollution that crosses state lines, saying the agency reasonably interpreted the Clean Air Act.
That ruling came from the most conservative Supreme Court in my lifetime.
All of this has made many conservatives very angry. Not quite as angry, or cynical, as conservatives tell us they still are over an incident that happened in Benghazi almost two years ago, but still.....pretty angry.
I don't believe it is necessary to explain how, when we become very angry, we often do and say wild and crazy stuff. Just like Mr. Conservative, Mr. "always right 99.7% of the time", did yesterday on his EIB....Excellence in Bullshiting...Network....
"There isn't any man-made disaster occurring out there. It can't be proved. I'm gonna tell you again if I have to shout from the rooftops. It's all computer model prediction, folks. There isn't any empirical evidence of it. It's all fearmongering brought on by predictions, computer models. There hasn't been any warming in the last, what is it, 17 years now.
Climate change is a perfect example of something that has been manufactured, that causes people trauma and fear and gives them something that they gotta get involved in to save the country and to save the world. And of course the way you do it, you vote Democrat...."
That from the guru of American conservatism. That from the guy who has confessed he is but a "water carrier" for the Republican Party.
Limbaugh's rebuttal....if one could call it that.....to overwhelming scientific evidence and consensus dealing with climate research over decades is to claim that "there isn't any empirical evidence of it".....that climate change is "something that has been manufactured."
Mr. Conservative then proceeds to explain why all this nonsense about global warming and carbon pollution is being made up.... "that causes people trauma and fear and gives them something that they gotta get involved in to save the country and to save the world. And of course the way you do it, you vote Democrat...."
Democrats are purposely tricking people by using the 97+% consensus of climate scientists to scare American voters so much.....that they will vote Democratic to "save the country, world." Climate scientists are complicit in this political power scam because those scientists are but money-grubbers looking to secure future federal funding to satiate their grubbing.
One of the problems with "carrying water" for one political party for over 25 years is that Mr. EIB can now no longer see the empirical forest for the political trees. Everything to Limbaugh is political....even years of empirical data and research from thousands of climate scientists. Even climate extremities we're experiencing first hand.
But Limbaugh's incoherent and wild-eyed-conspiracy-theorized gobbledygook yesterday just may have been exacerbated a bit by ratings and advertiser information news pointing towards a loss in popularity for Mr. Conservative's radio show.
Sam Seder shares the bad news for Limbaugh here......calling it evidence that Limbaugh has "lost his mojo."
Rush Limbaugh has been bald-faced lying to his audiences for 25 years for the purpose of advancing the GOP as an ultra-conservative political party. To what end? To redistribute income and wealth to the top 1% at the expense of average working American families. Income disparity gaps today suggest Limbaugh's long campaign of lies has worked.
However, is Limbaugh's recent descent into Alex Jones territory, following revelations that his radio show is diminishing in popularity and acceptability, a sign that all the years of lying for the sake of the oligarchs has finally worn out it's welcome with the American people?
One can hope.
