How should a "real American" answer the door when a Girl Scout is making neighborhood rounds selling Girl Scout cookies? By pointing a gun at the Girl Scout. Hopefully an isolated incident, but one never knows when the sale of Girl Scout cookies is being boycotted by Forced Pregnancy groups. Why boycott yummable Girl Scout cookies? Well, because those sly young girls are undercover agents working for the New Evil Incarnate, Planned Parenthood.
The pro-life movement has been concerned for a number of years about the ties between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
What should "real Americans" do when Coke rubs multi-lingual, multi-culturalism in their faces during a SuperBowl commercial where 'America the Beautiful' is sung? By announcing a boycott of Coke products, of course. The brilliantly stupid former Florida congressman, Allen West, explains why....
"Then the words went from English to languages I didn’t recognize," a troubled West wrote, calling it "a truly disturbing commercial."
"If we cannot be proud enough as a country to sing 'American (sic) the Beautiful' in English in a commercial during the Super Bowl, by a company as American as they come — doggone we are on the road to perdition," he wrote.
I'll say.....and in a handbasket.
Recent attempts to divide Americans along fault lines of consumer products have been seen with Chick-fil-a, Hobby Lobby and teevee shows like Duck Dynasty. We're becoming so politically divided that we are now resorting to political purity tests through consumer products.
Despite the fact that our Immigration and Naturalization Agency requires all new citizens to speak English before becoming a citizen, "real Americans", like Rep Steve King (R-IA), have sponsored bills multiple times to make English the official, by god, language of our Exceptional "Melting Pot" Nation.
All of this stuff makes for good comic relief.....but what's going on here, really?
First, it is imperative for people to understand that it is in the interest of the few who own our nation, America's richest, to keep the unruly masses focused on fighting with each other rather than focusing on fighting them. This is key. Americans have the power to reclaim their nation from the wealthy few, but only if they remain united against the conservative economic powers arrayed against them.
Think along the lines of a national strike. A united population could do serious economic damage to our rich controllers, forcing changes to wages, regressive tax policies, legal and judicial double standards, etc. But the key to returning to a We the People nation in our modern police state times....is solidarity.
Our genuine fault line in the U.S. is not GOP v Dem, or white v non-white, or gay v straight.....it is rich v poor. Yes, I can hear those "class warfare" rebuttals.....however, America has always been a class based society, and the classes have always been the rich class and the rest-of-us class.
Second, and a corollary of the first point, to keep the not-rich from uniting in solidarity against the conservative economic few......those conservative forces work hard to divide the non-rich over tangential issues like gay marriage, whether everyone should have their own arsenal, contraception, the right to choose, speaking English, and...now....which consumer products are acceptably American.
In short, it's all a misdirection play to protect the rich from the potential power of a united rest-of-us.
This is where the official communication department for the rich....main media....plays a major role....the day to day narrative of main media is primarily focused on those misdirection issues. As long as the narrative being discussed at the water coolers and lunch rooms of America is over side issues that don't deal with economic fairness.....Americans, as we have been doing over the last 20 years, stay politically divided enough to neutralize any serious threat arising in solidarity against the 1%. Main media was the leading critic of the Occupy movement....now you know why.
One final illustration to make the point. Following the collapse of the financial industry...there was legitimate fear among our rich overlords that Americans might unite against them and their filthy-lucre ways. The collapse was announced in October of 2008, and by February 2009, rich conservative forces like FreedomWorks and the Kochs were already funding and organizing an angry bunch of sore-loser, far right, mostly white males into a misdirection protest group labeling itself the Tea Party.
Birthers, Kenyan conspiracies, death panels, real Americans, guns at political events, alarming cries of socialism, and the rise of the likes of Glenn Beck....followed. That was not an accident. The rise of the Teas kept the disillusioned non-rich from uniting as one against our true adversary....the rich who destroyed our national economy with their privileged and protected greed.
Now, we're fighting over Girl Scout cookies, America the Beautiful and greasy chicken sandwiches.
