Texas voter ID law struck down Aug 30
Pennsylvania voter ID law struck down.
Wisconsin voter ID law disallowed for 2012 election.
Ohio voter ID law struck down by two courts and rejected by Supreme Court.
Arizona "proof of citizenship" voting law struck down.
Florida voter registration law and shortening early voting days struck down.
Missouri voter ID law struck down.
South Carolina's voter ID blocked by court for 2012 election.
What is the common denominator in all those states? GOP governors and legislatures.
Is there any evidence that in-person voter fraud has been, or is expected to be, a problem? None whatsoever.
In state after state, voter ID laws have been shown in court to likely suppress minority, young and poor voting. Those demographics just happen to vote more for the Democratic Party than the Republican Party. That fact led Pennsylvania House Republican Mike Turzai to boast about state GOP successes in this fashion....
“Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done,” he said at a Republican State Committee meeting.
What Republican governors and legislatures have done over the last 2 years is conspire together to suppress Democratic voting in the hopes of winning elections. It's a conspiracy against the people of the United States. A conspiracy to deny access, to discourage, to intimidate, to scare, to confuse majority-Democratic voters from voting.
In a perfect world these state Republicans would be hauled before a tribunal....tried and convicted of pre-meditated treasonous actions against the American people. These numerous voter suppression ID laws are not some coincidence. It's not as if each GOP-run state came to the same conclusion independent of the others. It's not some perfect-storm coincidence that all of these new voter ID/suppression laws have been put in place this year. Instead, these voter ID/suppression laws were put in place by Republicans in numerous Republican-controlled states for the express purpose of increasing the GOP's odds in the 2012 election.
"Both sides do it" media, naturally, will not and can not explain to audiences the full truth of the treasonous Republican efforts. If they did, then they would be accused of siding with Democrats....and the one thing corporate media absolutely hates is being accused of "liberal media bias." Ask Candy Crowley how that all works.
Feckless media notwithstanding......look at the court rejections of these voter ID/suppression laws. Virtually all of them have been struck down, or implementation delayed, in court rulings. Why do you think that is? Again...coincidence? Not on a bet. Each state's voter ID law was struck down or postponed by courts independently of one another. But each court agreed that these laws would disproportionately suppress the votes of young people, minorities and the elderly poor...in other words, more Democratic voters than Republican.....and therein lies the motivation for these laws.
Throw in the destruction of voter registration cards in Virginia by a GOP-hired pollster yesterday and the True the Vote election-day, voter intimidation and thuggery plans for November 6th by Tea Party militants.....and the picture which emerges is not one of freedom, liberty or democracy.
Instead, the picture coming into focus is one of a multi-redstate conspiracy to deny/discourage certain Americans from exercising their constitutional right to vote. Treason dressed up in a voter ID costume. Treason against American voters.
We've already experienced the undemocratic theft of one presidential contest. Republicans were planning on 2012 being yet another stolen, or gamed, election cycle. It is only because of the judiciary that GOP efforts to steal a close election are not further along. As it is, many voters are already confused and apprehensive about the process.
We must resist the new American voter suppressionist militants....and the only way to do that is to vote on or before November 6th.
