Let's all take note of the current date. Unless timewarp happened overnight today is July 21, 2007. That would mean that there are darn near 16 months before the general elections in November, 2008. So, it's a bit early for Republicans to be waving the white flag of surrender. At least one would think that. One would be wrong.
The leader of the Bush cult in the Senate, Mitch McConnell(R-Kentucky), made some interesting comments yesterday about GOP senatorial chances come next November. If you read what McConnell is saying really closely, you'll see the top of the surrender monkey white flag sticking up.
Republicans are unlikely to win back control of the Senate in 2008, their Senate leader, Mitch McConnell, said Friday, gloomily predicting that "holding our own is about all we could hope for."
"The numbers are against us," he told reporters at a Capitol news conference, noting that 22 Republicans and just 12 Democrats are up for re-election this cycle. "It would take an extraordinarily good day to get back up to 50. So our goal is to stay roughly where we are." Link
Now if you've been paying attention to the smug, bold, brash and confident obstructionism being carried out on Bush's behalf by the Senate Republicans over Iraq, specifically by McConnell, you would think the GOP was on the threshold of regaining control of Congress. McConnell and his host of Republican Rubber Stampers for the Decider(RRSD) oozed cockiness this week after stonewalling any change in Bush's "stay the surge course" strategy.
Now, McConnell says about next November's election, "the numbers are against us". To which The Reverend responds, "Ya' think"?
It's too early for pinpoint predictions about the next election cycle but if McConnell's waving the top of his surrender flag already, can you imagine the
Good. Riddance. Bad. Rubbish.
