Tea Ball, 2nd Inning

By The Reverend Published: September 30, 2010

Yesterday and today I am blogging about the Portage County Tea Party. My intention is to inform anyone interested in finding out what it is that the Partyers really stand for. National Tea Party Senate candidates, such as Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, Rand Paul and Christine O'Donnell refuse to answer media questions, I suppose, to avoid having to explain their extremely radical positions on many policy issues. So, The Reverend has to do their job for them.

Continuing, then, with what the Portage County Tea Party lists as their "beliefs"......

Tea-Ball

By The Reverend Published: September 29, 2010

Let's play some Tea-Ball, shall we? If it's all the same to you, I'll just go ahead and Tea the Tea Party Belief Ball up......and then hit it too.

Yesterday, I listed the candidate names recommended by the Portage County Tea Party on a handout circulated to county residents this past weekend. These candidates, the handout says...."share with us a belief in the following ideas and principles."

Portage County Tea Party Gibberish

By The Reverend Published: September 28, 2010

My 85 year old mother was paid a visit by a Portage County Tea Partier this past weekend. My mother said that the older Tea fellow reminded her of a Jehovah's Witness, only he seemed more agitated, even angry. Perhaps he was simply nervous, anxious.

He was handing out "voter guides" which had pictures of Tea Party recommended candidates on one side. The candidates were as follows: John Kasich for governor, Robert Owens for Ohio attorney general, Josh Mandel for Ohio treasurer, David Yost for state auditor, Jon Husted for secretary of state, W. Roak Zeller for 68th state house district, Todd McKenney for the 43rd district, Eugene Lucci for the Ohio 11th appellate court, Tommie Jo Marsillo for Portage County commissioner, and Janet Espositio, for Portage County auditor.

Innocent Fist-Bumping? You Decide.

By The Reverend Published: September 26, 2010

Sure, at first we thought it was cute and innocent. Barack Hussein Obama fist-bumping with the young boy in this photo. But we didn't know then what we still don't know now......was it really only a fist bump, or was it, in fact, an early warning sign of Obama's secret intention to impose sharia law in America?

Citizens United.....In Action

By The Reverend Published: September 25, 2010

Though George W. Bush will be remembered for his war crimes and disregard for national and international law, his real legacy is to be found in the Supreme Court.

Bush appointed two Justices to the Supremes bench. Sam Alito and John Roberts. Since being appointed and confirmed, Chief Justice John Roberts, despite his many statements while under oath to the contrary, has demonstrated that past judicial precedence is easily dismissable.

A Mistake? Or Progressive Whining?

By The Reverend Published: September 24, 2010

So, the Democrats are not going to force a confrontation with Republicans over Bush era tax cuts until after the midterm election.

The left blogosphere, Olbermann and Maddow, and Chris Hayes of the Nation think that congressional Democrats are simply weak and ignorant for letting this opportunity slip away. Democrats, they say, don't have the courage of their convictions. Democrats, they say, are wasting a great opportunity to feature the differences between the two parties.

Enforcing Rush's Commandment

By The Reverend Published: September 22, 2010

Yesterday, all Republican Senators voted to block the Military Authorization Bill from being debated in the Senate. Two Democratic Senators, Pryor and Lincoln, both from Arkansas, joined the Republicans. The final vote to move the bill to the floor for debate was 56-43. Democrat Harry Reid, in a procedural vote which will allow him to reintroduce the bill, also voted no. 60 votes were needed to kill the GOP filibuster.

All We Are Saying Is Give War A Chance

By The Reverend Published: September 21, 2010

The most dangerous political movement in America today is not the Village darlings, the Tea Partyers. Not even close. Tea Partyers are like the cheap noisemakers many people use at midnight on New Year's Eve.....they're fun for a few minutes but have no lasting, practical value.

The most dangerous political movement in America today is the same political movement which orchestrated the fraud known as Operation Iraqi Freedom. The most dangerous political movement in America today is the one which prompted an incurious George W. Bush to call Iraq, North Korea and Iran the "axis of evil."

Strange Epidemic of Amnesia

By The Reverend Published: September 20, 2010

Immediately following President Obama's inauguration, Village media began a predicable campaign to help put Republicans back into power. In early 2009, CNBC's Rick Santelli, former bond trader-turned teevee bond trading analyst.....speaking, as it were, for the "average" American,....faux-ranted according to a carefully choreographed script....and the national Tea Party astroturf movement was born.

The Taxed Enough Already "grassroots" movement, whose members were enjoying the lowest tax rates in recent American history, and which was being financed by the ususal-suspect Republican Party financiers, was, nevertheless, a new shiny object with which Village media could hypnotize uninformed Americans. Anti-Obama voters quickly succumbed to the Village spell. Their anti-Obama anger had found an outlet.

Looking Backward, Not Forward

By The Reverend Published: September 16, 2010

President Barack Obama has stated repeatedly over the past 21 months that he prefers to "look forward, not backward", which meant, and still means, that he didn't, and still doesn't, want to bog down his presidency by illuminating the collossal failures and rampant criminality of the Republican leaders, Bush-Cheney.

Rove V. Hannity In Wingnut Wars Matchup

By The Reverend Published: September 15, 2010

The unspoken-by-corporate media theme this election season has been the wingnut war raging within the Republican Party. You'll have to excuse my use of "wingnut war".....nothing personal, just a point of reference everyone can quickly understand.

Villager media, aka, Knee Pad Media, spun their golden narrative thread early on.....stomping their wittle feet and insisting that this election season was all about throwing out the incumbents because voters were really, really angry. Snot-coming-out-the-nose angry.....that's how really, really angry the voters are.

Fighting Hard For The Top 3%

By The Reverend Published: September 14, 2010

There's a battle brewing right this minute on those "Bush tax cuts" which are scheduled to expire January 1.

President Obama wants to move forward with his campaign promise to keep the tax cuts for everyone making less than $200K per year, and allow income tax rates to rise to there pre-Bush levels on those Americans making more than $200K per year(single filers).

The Tea Party Message

By The Reverend Published: September 13, 2010

There was a 9/12 Tea Party shindig in D.C. yesterday. Maybe the following signs do not represent what the Tea Party's central message and reason-for-being actually is.....but, then again, maybe they do.

Here's the first one. Perhaps these guys in the picture are really, really worked up about deficit spending and the national debt. But, it's hard, you know, from their sign, to make that message out.

Proud To Be An Exceptional American?

By The Reverend Published: September 12, 2010

For years now, Very Serious and Patriotic U.S. leaders have huffed and puffed unceasingly bragging about how superior Americans are in the world. We are not savages, unlike those filthy Muslim hordes who will burn the bodies of their enemies and hang them on a bridge. Our military members are not like the Islamic extremists, we've been told. America, alone, is Exceptional.....therefore, our soldiers, by definition, are also Exceptional in every way.

Especially so in comparison with the "terrorists", who have no qualms about chopping off heads. How barbaric!

Wagging That Dog

By The Reverend Published: September 10, 2010

Embarassment isn't a sufficient enough word anymore.....doesn't quite capture the powerlessness one feels as one watches a nation disintegrate into a state of ignorant confusion.

On 9-11, 19 extremist Muslims hijacked planes and crashed them into buildings killing almost 3000 U.S. citizens. We were told by the president at the time that those 19 attackers did the deed because of America's "freedoms." For some unexplained-at-the-time reason, those hijackers, and the leaders who sent them, "hated our freedoms."

Endangering U.S. Troops To Regain Power?

By The Reverend Published: September 8, 2010

Down in Florida there is a pastor of a tiny Christian group who is organizing a "burn a Koran" day for this Saturday, 9-11. Corporate media, following it's own lead of wall to wall coverage of the Park 51 project "nontroversy", is paying a lot of attention to this "burn a Koran" project.

From the International Burn a Koran Day site on Facebook, we find this....

If Government Is The Problem.....

By The Reverend Published: September 7, 2010

I spoke to an in-law member on Sunday who was talking about some local police department eliminating a few police jobs because of the Great Recession. Nothing unique about the layoffs, it's happening all across the nation as tax revenues dry up.

It's what my in-law then said that caught my attention.
