About This Blog
I was away the last 4 days. Even unpaid and misunderstood bloggers need time away.
But now I'm back and the hits will keep on coming. Speaking of....
Romney pollster Neil Newhouse: "We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers."
When I first read that line, I thought....'duh'. But after pondering that sentence and delving deeply into each nuanced word....I concluded...'well, duh.'
Now I know that this will be the very last general election where the GOP can possibly remain competitive....even though I still don't believe Mitt Romney will come close to beating President Obama.
Why would a Romney pollster say Mitt's campaign wouldn't be dictated by "fact checkers?" Because of this blatantly dishonest, and, some say, race-baiting Romney ad....
"On July 12, President Obama quietly ended the work requirement, gutting welfare reform. One of the most respected newspapers in the country called it 'nuts,' " the ad says.
"Under Obama's plan, you wouldn't have to work and you wouldn't have to train for a job," the ad continues. "They just send you your welfare check. And welfare to work goes back to being plain old welfare ..."
In an interview with USA Today, Mitt said that Obama was "gutting welfare reform" in order to "shore up his base."
All 'fact-checking' groups claim that Romney's "gutting welfare" statement is a complete and utter lie.....made up of whole Mormon-Mitt cloth.
Here's the truth about the 'waivers'....
...Utah, Nevada, California, Connecticut and Minnesota.
These states, some with Republican governors, asked the federal government for more flexibility in how they hand out welfare dollars. Their purpose was to spend less time on federal paperwork and more time experimenting with ways to connect welfare recipients with jobs.
The Obama administration cooperated, granting waivers to some states from some of the existing rules.
The waivers gave "those states some flexibility in how they manage their welfare rolls as long as it produced 20% increases in the number of people getting work."
Confronted with their willful mendacity as explained by fact-checkers, the Romney people responded with this....
“Our most effective ad is our welfare ad,” a top television advertising strategist for Romney, Ashley O’Connor, said at a forum Tuesday hosted by ABCNews and Yahoo! News. “It’s new information.”...
The Washington Post’s “Fact Checker” awarded Romney’s ad “four Pinocchios,” a measure Romney pollster Neil Newhouse dismissed.
“Fact checkers come to this with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs, and we’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers,” he said.
Translation: We don't care about what's factual or what isn't......we're going with what works.....and lying about Obama and welfare waivers is our most effective lie.
Mitt's lying ad about welfare waivers is also meant to be racist. See,....Obama's "base", according to Republicans, is made up of nothing but lazy, shiftless, government-dependent slugs on welfare. The word 'welfare' to conservatives means minorities.....but primarily it means black Americans. The same t-bone steak eating young bucks and Cadillac driving welfare queens Ronaldus Maximus made famous back in the 80's.
When Romney's pollster says that the lying 'welfare' ad is the most effective one they have going.....what he is explaining is that Mitt's voting base detests poor, unfortunate blacks who need government assistance now more than ever. And so what better way to agitate and excite the GOP base than to lie through your rectum about Obama's government giving free stuff to unworthy blacks?
But in the larger picture thingy.....what this says about the Republican Party is that they are fresh-out of voting demographic-blocks. All that's left is bitter white voters, primarily males.
Women poll out voting for Obama by 10% over Romney, with Latinos it's 39%, with blacks it's 94-0%, and with voters 18-29 Obama leads 43-26%. So, who's left to vote for the Mittster? Primarily white males.
And that explains why Romney's campaign is willing to lie without shame. Mitt is going for the all-white electorate....and the all-white electorate only. Yes, it's shameless and despicable and mendacious and ....well.....ugly.
But that's all that today's GOP has left.
