Make-Believe Caucus Threatens GOP Surrender Caucus

By The Reverend Published: October 15, 2013

*By the looks of yesterday's comment would seem that I struck a few nerves by daring to mention veterans being exploited by Tea Party darlings. If you took offense or the post made you see red.....come back tomorrow, I'm planning on responding to all legitimate objections/complaints. Personal satisfaction, however, is never guaranteed. The Rev

The NYTimes reports that the Senate has reached a deal to avoid a national default and reopen the federal government. Color me unimpressed. The deal from the Senate is so short term that it all but guarantees another shutdown and/or default crisis before Valentine's Day. According to the NYT, senators are willing to reopen government until January 15th and raise the debt ceiling to accommodate bill paying until February 7th.

So, you know, Happy New advance.

Notice that I wrote..."senators are willing...." That is because GOP House members are....well....let's just call it....disappointed.....

“We’ve got a name for it in the House: it’s called the Senate surrender caucus,” said Representative Tim Huelskamp, Republican of Kansas. “Anybody who would vote for that in the House as Republican would virtually guarantee a primary challenger.”

And here's Erick Erickson of

The RedState contact email is now getting one anti-GOP email for every one anti-Democrat email. That has never happened before. All these polls showing America hates the GOP are accurate. Even Republicans hate the GOP and the GOP might have to learn that the hard way in 2014 primaries.

John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and John Cornyn will ensure that Obamacare is fully funded and give the American public no delay like businesses have.....

In doing so, they will sow the seeds of a real third party movement that will fully divide the Republican Party.

Of course, Erickson knows what he is saying is not workable. I mean, don't get me wrong....I would absolutely relish seeing Ted Cruz's name on the 2016 ballot as the nominee for president from the Constitution Party or the Libertarian Party or even the Birthday Party. But big-conservative-mouthy-talk aside.....Tea Republicans realize that an actual GOP breakup would most likely put Democrats in control of both Congress and the presidency.

Because of that's what is likely to happen going into the midterms next year....and then, later, the 2016 general election. The GOP purge will continue....with a vengeance. RINO hunting season will be extended to a year round sport. Expect more Goofy-Balls, extremist-right, conservative primary candidates....ala Sharon Angle and Todd Akin and Christine O'Donnell....running against "surrender caucus" incumbent Republicans. Republican and conservative resources will be split fighting each other, giving Democrats even more of an advantage.

So.....all in all...a pretty smart plan.

In my youth, the GOP was not known for it's love of the insane. Back then, Republicans were simply the party which tenderly looked after the interests of the richest among us. But after the stellar leadership of GOP President Richard Nixon went down in resignation flames and a multitude of criminal investigations.....GOP popularity waned quite a bit. It was left to Ronaldus in 1980 to create a new Republican coalition.

Ronaldus looked to the world of make-believe to form that new coalition. Perhaps Nancy saw it in the stars. The Moral Majority of evangelicals brought it's reality-denying culture war to the Big Money GOP tent....and the rest is Goofy-Balls history.

Today what we're the disintegration of that same coalition. The make-believers are now threatening the fortunes of those traditionally served by the Republican Party. And while it's true that the GOP still needs the make-believe vote to compete with Democrats.....Rich Guys, apparently, aren't willing to lose money any longer for the sake of the make-believe vote.

The Wall Street Journal, the Chambers of Commerce, and other Rich Guy Groups have seen enough from the make-believers....refusing to subject their fortunes any longer to the whims of the insane. It's Establishment Republicans versus Make-Believe Republicans in a ten round, no-prisoners purge of the Party of Lincoln.

And we all have front row seats.
