New Egyptian VP & Bush Torture

By The Reverend Published: January 31, 2011

Egyptian President Mubarak, under intense pressure by protesting citizens of the country he has ruled as a dictator for 30 years, appointed a new never-before Vice President of Egypt over the weekend....his name is Omar Suleiman.

The following narrative, which includes details of Suleiman's cooperation and active participation in carrying out torture at the Bush administration's request, provides a better understanding of recent American-Eqyptian relationships.....

Two Very Different Presidents

By The Reverend Published: January 25, 2011

The collapse of the financial industry, which became publicly known during the presidential campaign of 2008, has been regarded as the worst financial collapse since the 1929 crash. While the last three years have been accompanied by much misery....in lost jobs, lost homes, depleted pensions, bankruptcies and a lower standard of living.....the last three years, thankfully, have not been like the Dustbowl Depression our nation experienced in the 30's.

One of the reasons we are not enduring our grandfather's depression today is Franklin D. Roosevelt. President Roosevelt, like President Obama, took office after a huge financial industry collapse which affected the entire nation. The '29 crash, like the '08 crash, came about because of speculation by paper and money shufflers in the banking industry. Reckless greed.

The Moral Divide

By The Reverend Published: January 24, 2011

Tomorrow night President Barack Obama will deliver the State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. No doubt, Obama will explain that the State of the Union at the beginning of 2011 is strong and getting stronger. That is what Americans want to hear....and that is what a President looking to his own reelection will tell Americans.

The NY Times has given us an outline of what Mr. Obama will be saying tomorrow night.

Republicans Dance Because Of Fear

By The Reverend Published: January 19, 2011

Why are House Republicans pressing the issue of repealing health care reform legislation when they surely know their efforts will fail?

The answer is found in two words....Tea Party.

Rwanda Radio

By The Reverend Published: January 15, 2011

In the early 90's some 800,000 Rwandans were slaughtered in acts of violence. The violence was classified as genocidal acts in that the minority Tutsis were targeted for elimination by the Hutus.

Maybe you've seen the movie Hotel Rwanda, starring the capable actor, Don Cheadle. It's worth the viewing.

The Consequences Of Words

By The Reverend Published: January 14, 2011

I'll have more to say later about the perpetrator of the Tucson massacre.

For now.....conservatives have been correct this week in pointing out that there is no evidence that Jared Loughner had any truck with Tea Party groups in Arizona nor that he was directly influenced by Foxian rhetoric or Sarah Palin crosshair maps.

Obama Leads, Palin Ends Career

By The Reverend Published: January 13, 2011

Last night, Tucson mourners came together to memorialize those killed by Jared Loughner on Saturday morning. Emotions in the 14,000+ crowd were all over the emotional map. Joy and tension-relieving applause broke out when President Obama announced that Gabrielle Giffords had "opened her eyes for the first time" yesterday. There were respectful and appreciative rounds of applause for those at the scene Saturday who demonstrated bravery, unusual composure and selflessness. There were tears flowing as the nation's highest political leader called citizens to a higher place for the sake of our children, children like the angelic, 9 year old, Christina Green, taken from her family in such a horrific and senseless way.

Obama Embracing The Ridiculous

By The Reverend Published: January 6, 2011

After our compromised and corrupt corporate media finished "reporting" on Sister Sarah and Chuck Grassley's political stunts which called end-of-life counseling sessions with your doctor: "death panels" and "pulling the plug on Grandma"....Democrats, at the behest of the White House, removed the provision from the health care reform bill.

Giving an incentive to doctors to include these counseling sessions was a smart way to make end-of-life medical care more efficient, effective and done in a way that honors the wishes of the individual patient. The practice would actually lower costs.

Brand New Voodoo

I think the new Republican House procedural rules are worthy of discussion. Nobel prize winner in economics, Paul Krugman, has some fun with those rules here.....but Krugman, as all Americans have been informed by now, is a communist infiltrator, probably originally born in Venezuela or Cuba, who later changed his name from Hugo Chakrugvez to what he claims it is today.

Anyway.....here are the new Republican procedural rules in the House, and they are doozies....

As Texas Goes, So Too Ohio?

By The Reverend Published: January 4, 2011

The Lehman Brothers Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, has promised to make Ohio a more appealing state for new business while simultaneously handling the state's $8 billion budgetary shortfall.

That promise, at least to me, means reducing taxes for the wealthier and for businesses, most likely ending Ohio's income tax altogether....while state and local sales taxes, property taxes and state related fees will have to be increased to make up for the losses. State educational and health related services, meanwhile, will have to be slashed. Union workers, Kasich has already explained, are going to get kicked in the teeth.

America Rewards Reckless Irresponsibility

By The Reverend Published: January 3, 2011

Huge banking, insurance and real estate interests played fast and loose with their industry's rules. Due diligence was discarded as old fashioned. Recklessness and irresponsibility were rewarded handsomely as hyper-greed encompassed the paper shuffling industries.

When the recklessness and irresponsibility became evident even to the irresponsible....when Lehman Bros. went down....it was too late. The poison was already working it's way through the American mortgage industry. The largest greed-IED in American history had blown up. Collateral damage was everywhere.
