Remember the Oscar quality performances by Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe while trying to entrap ACORN employees into saying something embarassing while being videoed? Giles and O'Keefe, both lackeys for Fox, became overnight winger sensations....the new young wingnut-media patriots. Here's the video if you need to brush up on the story.
Immediately following the amateurish and silly sting attempt, Fox put the video on 24/7 loop. A concerted effort by hate speech artists on the far right began. Extremists like Glenn Beck ridiculed and mocked other big corporate media outlets for not running with this oh-so-important story.
"The ACORN corruption -- this is your money. Fox has had 133 reports on it. CNN, 90. MSNBC, 10 -- how’s that possible? Hey, ABC, how’s it working out for you, with two?” Beck’s onscreen tally credited CBS with two Jones stories, and ABC and NBC with one apiece.
Politico's Mike Allen and Michael Calderone explained the dynamic...
"So even with some stories initially not getting much play on other networks, or in the major papers, Fox has the power to drive them into the debate."
Once Fox drove the other major networks into the ACORN sting video "debate", here's what happened...
Shortly after five videos aired on national television, the Senate voted 83-7 while the House voted 345-75 to cut off all funds to ACORN.
No charges filed, no trial, no convictions.....no matter. In knee-jerk unison the hapless Houses of Congress jerked ACORN funding. Republicans jerked their knees because ACORN is public enemy number one for signing up new minority voters who primarily vote Democratic. Democrats jerked their knees because they were afraid the Republicans, and Fox, the driver of debates for the national corporate media, would treat them mean if they didn't.
That was back in September and October. Conniving and disingenuous bullsh*t artists with cameras passed videos to larger-audience FOX bullsh*t artists, who drove the rest of corporate media to cover a bullsh*t "debate, which caused Congressional knee-jerk-jerks to pass a ridiuclous bullsh*t bill defunding ACORN. President Obama signed the pile of bullsh*t into law.
Now it's December......and the pile of bullsh*t is now being shoveled back onto the knee-jerkers laps.
There's now further information on whether ACORN employees did anything illegal and also on how the new wingnut stars, Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe, carried out what could be called, patriotic-partisan editing.
Former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger, has issued a report.....
While some of the advice and counsel given by ACORN employees and volunteers was clearly inappropriate and unprofessional, we did not find a pattern of intentional, illegal conduct by ACORN staff; in fact, there is no evidence that action, illegal or otherwise, was taken by any ACORN employee on behalf of the videographers.
The videos that have been released appear to have been edited, in some cases substantially, including the insertion of a substitute voiceover for significant portions of Mr. O'Keefe's and Ms. Giles's comments, which makes it difficult to determine the questions to which ACORN employees are responding. A comparison of the publicly available transcripts to the released videos confirms that large portions of the original video have been omitted from the released versions.
As I mentioned above....dishonest, young bullsh*t artist-wannabes, working with dishonest-yet-experienced media bullsh*t artists pressured Villager elitist bovine-excrement tossers to coerce that pile of bribe-taking manure we call the Congress to defund ACORN.....which resulted in the Commander in Chief of All Bullsh*t signing the huge, steaming pile into law.
However, when artists of the excremental kind jerk their knees in perfect harmony, sometimes they hurt themselves...
Again, from Politico...
Nina Gershon, a district judge in New York, issued a preliminary injunction directing the department of Housing and Urban Development, the Office of Management and Budget and the Treasury department to disregard a bill signed into law by President Obama that prohibited federal funding of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
“The question here is only whether the Constitution allows Congress to declare that a single, named organization is barred from all federal funding in the absence of a trial,” Gershon wrote in her opinion. “Because it does not, and because the plaintiffs have shown the likelihood of irreparable harm in the absence of an injunction, I grant the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction.”
Admittedly, this was only a decision by a Federal District Court that will surely be challenged up the ladder, but it has teeth. The OMB and HUD have been ordered to "disregard" the original pile of dung legislation.
America's media and political institutions are broken. I know, shocker. On occasion, this broken and disgusting mess crystallizes into a transparently clear bullsh*t moment.
The ACORN "story" is one such moment.
