Indiana Declares War On Women

By The Reverend Published: April 30, 2011

Last June, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, called for conservatives to declare a "truce" over divisive conservative social issues if Republicans planned on regaining the presidency in 2012.

That naturally led to many on the sanctimonious right to blast ole' Mitch. Example, the Huckster, and bass guitar playing Mike Huckabee....

Media: "Sideshows And Carnival Barkers"

By The Reverend Published: April 27, 2011

I'm sure you've heard by now....President Obama released his long form birth certificate on Wednesday. He brought his paddle with him to the microphone as he announced the birth certificate release.....and he put some serious and deserving welts on the asses of the mainstream, corporate media.

Rush Drags Jesus Through Streets

By The Reverend Published: April 26, 2011

Every so often religious topics make their way into the news. An example is today's Beacon reprint of Ross Douthat's totally undecipherable and nonsensical column about Hell. Hell has to exist, says the round mound of the New York Times, because otherwise Tony Soprano would be in heaven. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Since we're talking about fat, sloppy, obnoxious hellions.....I think we should consider yesterday's Rush Limbaugh comments about the Christian saviour, Jesus. The leader of the American conservative movement is not one you would automatically think of when discussing the Nazarene....but Limbaugh drug Jesus into his 3 hour daily hatefest, anyway.

Medicare Mendacity

By The Reverend Published: April 25, 2011

First it was the audacious GOP governors of the Tea Party persuasion.

Governors, Kasich of Ohio, Walker of Wisconsin, Snyder of Michigan and Scott of Florida....all came out of their inaugural gates like a house on fire. The GOP governors had apparently mainlined some artificially sweetened, make-believe mandate from voters. Pretending to be balancing their state budgets, each governor strategically went about attacking the right of state employees to collectively bargain.

AB Journal Failing Its Readers

The Crucifixion Of America

By The Reverend Published: April 22, 2011

Christians celebrate their highest holiday this weekend. Today, Good Friday, commemorates the crucifixion of a 30-something Jewish man at the hands of Roman authorities.

As the story goes, Jesus was a friend of the downtrodden, the poor, and the marginal in Jewish society. He is alleged to have angered the religious leaders of his day by often pointing out their hypocrisy and evil double dealing. Jesus was a populist.....telling fellow commoner Jews what they already knew to be true....that is, the establishment Jewish leaders preyed on common Jews. Jewish leaders interpreted the Torah to feed their greed, self-importance and lust for power.....and they did so at the expense of the average Jewish practitioner.

The Stench Of Rot

By The Reverend Published: April 20, 2011

The number one reason why America is rotting from the inside out is the legalized corruption found in our political process. One of my conservative in-laws asked me again recently what I saw as the biggest problem facing America. My answer was the same as it was the year before.....the bribery system inherent in our political campaign funding system.

It's simple really. Those who give you money, especially those who give you large sums of money so that you can "win"......are the same people whom you feel obligated to after you have won. I don't care how many entirely bogus cul-de-sac free speech justifications are given for our open political bribery process.....such as those found in the ridiculous Citizens United ruling.....that process has ruined our nation.

Stunt Team At Standard & Poor's

By The Reverend Published: April 19, 2011

Yesterday morning there was a political stunt pulled by the financial ratings agency, Standard & Poor's. S&P didn't actually downgrade the AAA credit rating of the U.S. government as several teevee talkers hysterically claimed, instead they "downgraded their outlook" of the credit worthiness of the U.S. government from "neutral" to "negative."

GOP Pulls Plug On All Future Grandmas

Wasted Words of Wisdom

By The Reverend Published: April 14, 2011

My liberal comrades will not like what I have to say today. Hell, I don't like it either.....but I must tell the truth as I see it...so here goes.

President Obama gave his deficit speech (transcript) in the middle of the afternoon yesterday so that people like you and I, who are politically engaged, could discuss it and compare it to Ryan's Republican Roadmap To Ruin. He didn't present his speech to the American people in prime time because he knows that he will lose the battle he laid out in what I am today calling his "wasted words of wisdom."

"Come On, Come On, We're Together"

By The Reverend Published: April 13, 2011

What if Osama Bin Laden's jihadist group had their own flag? And what if many Americans proudly raised that jihadist flag in celebratory fashion each year around September? What's more.....what if tens of thousands of southern-state Americans pasted a decal of that jihadist flag onto their pick-em-up truck bumpers or framed their license plates with a "Jihadists Forever" plate holder? Anticipate your emotions if you saw huge banners with the words...."Bin Laden Will Rise Again"....displayed prominently.

Then, consider how you would feel if a Virginia Governor announced a 9-11 Bin Laden 10 year commemoration for the entire month of September this year. Furthermore, what would you think of another southern governor who recalled his fond memories of 9-11 and explained how he didn't remember the event being all that bad?

Sold Down The River

By The Reverend Published: April 12, 2011

Before steamboats proliferated, goods could not easily be moved upstream on the Mississippi River. It was much easier to "go with the flow", as it were, because of the prohibitive cost of sending goods up river. "Sold down the river" was the easier, cheaper, status-quo method of moving your products to markets.

"It's Their Debt"....Debunked

By The Reverend Published: April 10, 2011

In approximately 4 weeks, the Tea Party Extortion Battalion will, once again, hold the nation hostage to their ahistorical and ignorant faith-based ideology. Treasury Secretary Geithner says May 16 is when the national debt ceiling will need to be raised in order to continue to pay the nation's bills. Shifting funds around can buy some additional time, but, at best, only until the middle of July.

Here's the intelligence or honesty levels of newbee, greenhorn Tea Party House Republicans when it comes to America's debt.....

GOP Agrees To Release Hostages

By The Reverend Published: April 9, 2011

For the second time in less than 4 months, Republican officials have agreed to release hostages in return for ransom demands. Late last evening, Speaker Boehner went before cameras and announced that his thuggish band of Young Guns would release the 5 million American women they have been threatening to deny access to reproductive health care services.

America has entered an entirely new era of ransom-negotiations governance.

Never Has Been About The Spending

By The Reverend Published: April 8, 2011

I have argued until my keyboard keys are worn out that our current crop of Republicans in Washington do not care one whit about government spending....and really never have cared. The same goes for the deficit and the national debt. Talk is cheap and with today's Tea Party inspired Republicans....cheap talk has been on sale.

Every Republican administration in my lifetime has not only expanded government but has also expanded the deficit. Richard Cheney, the much beloved chicken hawk warmonger of the conservative persuasion, cynically told Paul O'Neil, former Treasury Secretary under Bush, the Younger, that "deficits don't matter...Reagan proved that."

Shut 'Er Down

By The Reverend Published: April 7, 2011

President Obama met late last night with Harry Reid and John Boehner in yet another attempt to stave off a federal government shutdown. No agreement was forthcoming.

Just as a drunk-on-power group of Republicans shut down the government in 1995, so too the looming shutdown of 2011.

Ryan: The "Courageous" Beck Lover

By The Reverend Published: April 6, 2011

Republican officials have been avoiding cuddling up to Paul Ryan's (R-WI) "Roadmap" to ruin for over 2 years. Republicans knew Ryan's plan would gag a maggot and so they distanced themselves from it for as long as they could.

The sickening irony about Ryan's immoral proposal is found in the claims made over the last couple of days by some that Ryan's plan to disembowel Medicare and Medicaid while lowering 60 year record-low tax rates on America's wealthy by another 10% is that it's....my goodness....the moral and courageous thing to do.

The Audacity of Nope

By The Reverend Published: April 4, 2011

The health care reform legislation passed this time last year with nary a Republican vote in the affirmative has been lovingly labeled ObamaCare by those who are hellbent on taking America back from it's first black president. Part of ObamaCare expands eligibility for Medicaid from 100% to 138% of the federal poverty level. This expansion will add approximately 16 million Americans to the Medicaid program.

The Medicaid expansion portion of ObamaCare is one of the few truly progressive parts of the legislation. Naturally, Republicans have no tolerance for such an expansion....and they have a plan to stomp Medicaid expansion out before it begins.
