"Not Negotiating With Terrorists"

By The Reverend Published: September 27, 2013

Obama yesterday....

“No Congress before this one has ever, ever, in history been irresponsible enough to threaten default, to threaten an economic shutdown, to suggest America not pay its bills, just to try to blackmail a president into giving them some concessions on issues that have nothing to do with a budget,” Mr. Obama said before a friendly audience in suburban Washington.

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer likened House Republicans to suicide bombers, kidnappers and arsonists in a single interview on Thursday.

"What we're not for is negotiating with people with a bomb strapped to their chest," Pfeiffer told CNN's Jake Tapper in laying out the president's refusal to compromise with the GOP to win an increase in the nation's debt limit. "We're not going to do that."

He referred to a list of Republican add-ons to a debt-limit bill as "ransom demands," and said "it's not a negotiation if I show up at your house and say give me everything inside or I'm going to burn it down."

Blackmailers, terrorists, arsonists?

It's taken a few years, but it looks like Obama and his White House team have finally put their finger on the reason D.C. is so smucked-up. For way too long Obama has insisted on appeasing these domestic terrorists for the sake of some illusory "bipartisanship." Obama has tried too many times to negotiate with those who refuse to negotiate.

The non-partisan and respected writing duo Thomas Mann and Norm Ornstein have been warning about these domestic enemies for a couple of years......

We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.

The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics.

Thomas Mann went on to say this....It’s closer to the truth to say that the Democrats are the conservative party and the Republicans the radical party.

To objective observers, this has all been obvious for years. To the Professionals in corporate media...not so much. Despite the nose on their faces, corporate media, insists "both sides do it"....no doubt for reasons that involve profit.

But finally, White House representatives are stating the obvious, even if media refuses. Congressional Republicans, according to the normally reserved Dan Pfieffer, have become domestic terrorists with bombs strapped to their chests.

"it's not a negotiation if I show up at your house and say give me everything inside or I'm going to burn it down."

No it's not.......a negotiation. What it is...is terrorist blackmail. Rightly, Pfeiffer reminded that we don't negotiate with terrorist blackmailers who take hostages. I hope the White House means it this time......because from the horrendous sequester "compromise" to Obama's misguided obsession with deficit reduction during a recession....it could be said that, to coin a phrase,....Obama's been paling around and negotiating with terrorists for a few years....the nation worse off for it.

So, it comes as refreshing news that Obama and his White House representatives are finally telling Americans the unvarnished truth about the blackmailing terrorists currently threatening the nation from within.

Yesterday, when House leadership announced their ridiculous hostage demands, it was as if John Boehner strapped a bomb to his chest, warning, defiantly, that if Harry Reid refused the demands, he and his House suiciders would blow up the nation's and the world's economy by refusing to pay for the already-incurred public debt.

Despite Village assurances.....I don't think anyone really knows how this ongoing terrorist threat will play out. Circumstances are different than they were back in 2011 when this same terrorist outfit orchestrated the first downgrade of our country's debt rating and a mini-spike in the nation's economy. When I suggest it's different this time.....I don't mean it's less precarious.....just the opposite.

Here's why I say that.....Republicans and their media appendages are now fighting amongst themselves. There is much confusion right now in the conservative movement......making a non-disastrous outcome more unlikely.

The only way out of our terrorist blackmail situation is for Speaker Boehner to seek the help of House Democrats in passing a clean CR and a clean debt limit increase. But if Boehner goes there....he will likely lose his Speakership.

Sorry John, it's either that.....or you push the button on your GOP vest bomb...the terrorists win.....and America loses.
