It goes without saying that no group of Americans would ever try to steal an election. America is good and just and besides, almost all Americans believe in God and most confess they are Christians.....so stealing an election would simply be out of the question.....in America. It could happen in, like, other countries.....but not here.
So why are Ohio and Colorado and some other states all concerned about the potential rigging of voting machines? I don't get it...
With the presidential race in full swing, Colorado and other states have found critical flaws in the accuracy and security of their electronic voting machines, forcing officials to scramble to return to the paper ballots they abandoned after the Florida debacle of 2000.
In December alone, top election officials in Ohio and Colorado declared that widely used voting equipment is unfit for elections.
"Every system that is out there, one state or another has found that they are no good," said John Gideon of the advocacy group Voters Unite. "Everybody is starting to look at this now and starting to realize that there is something wrong."
The swing states of California, Ohio and Florida have found that security on touch-screen voting machines is inadequate. Testers have been able to disable the systems and even change vote totals. Link
Much to do about nothing....I'm sure. There were no problems in either the Supreme Court's ordering of a shortened election process in 2000 or the f**king mess reported in Ohio's 2004 election. No problems at all. Election irregularities, appearances of tampering with vote counts, easily hacked voting machine software, cozy political connections with manufacturers of voting machines, the suppression of minority voters by Bush Justice Department initiatives unconstitutionally calling for picture ID's in order to vote, the ugly practice of voter "caging", scrubbing voter rolls, voter "challengers" in precincts for intimidation purposes......all this stuff would never be tolerated inside America's election process.
That kind of thing is what happens in new and struggling democracies......not here in the United States.
And get a load of...."Testers have been able to disable the systems and even change the vote totals." So what, right? If this situation presented itself inside another country...then yes, it could be a problem.....but here in good, moral, fair and just America?....not to worry.
