Even in the opening handshake of the two presidential candidates last night, John McCain couldn't muster up enough class, or courage, to look Barack Obama in the eye.
If McCain can't look Barack Obama in the eye...how can he look world leaders in the eye?
The 90 minute debate last night at the University of Mississippi was enveloped in a McCain cloud of contemptuousness directed towards his Democratic opponent. McCain's obvious disdain for Obama made McCain look like a small, arrogant and angry man. To not look once at your opponent in 90 minutes of back and forth is far more than classless....it's bizarre.
At least, McCain did not remind me of George W. Bush last night.....instead, McCain reminded me of Dick Cheney. Repeatedly attacked by Barack Obama, the Republican nominee had very few rebuttals of Obama points and little more to offer Americans other than a dozen warmed over campaigning phrases.
Barack Obama's control of facts and information, his stance on Iraq and his pointing out of Republican economic dogma as the root cause of our current national financial problems led viewers to declare Obama the winner of this, the first of three presidential debates.

61% of CNN's focus group of 32 undecideds in Ohio said Barack Obama won the debate, 39% said it was McCain.
Barack Obama actually got more high marks from the Independents, Democrats and Republicans across the board, McCain, a strong Republican response but really not from Democrats or Independents very often. Source

40% of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. 22% thought John McCain won. 38% saw it as a draw.
