Republicans Are The True Whiners

By The Reverend Published: September 30, 2008

One of John McCain's bestest buddies, Phil Gramm, called Americans "whiners" not long ago. Look who's whining now.

John Boehner, R-OH, Eric Cantor, R-VA, and Roy Blunt, R-MO stood in front of microphones yesterday and told Americans that the reason Republicans let the country down by not voting for a bailout of Wall Street was because Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, talked mean.

Obama 1, McCain 0

By The Reverend Published: September 27, 2008

Even in the opening handshake of the two presidential candidates last night, John McCain couldn't muster up enough class, or courage, to look Barack Obama in the eye.

Suspended Straight Talk

By The Reverend Published: September 25, 2008

My friends, it's time for a little suspension of straight talk.

John McCain announced the suspension of his straight talk campaign for the presidency yesterday. Claiming that the Henry Paulson labeled "financial crisis" is just oh-too-crisis-sy, the Straight Talk Express driver has now called a temporary moratorium on the marathon of lies McCain calls his campaign.

Why Trust Paulson?

By The Reverend Published: September 24, 2008

Quick....write me a check for $700 billion. No strings attached. No judge can question the transaction. I'll determine how the money is spent. And if you don't write the check quickly.....the world will end.

Why trust Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson? Why trust a guy who has said all of the following things just this year......

Reagan Conservatism Now Dead

Fighting Socialism

By The Reverend Published: September 22, 2008

The CEO president.....our illustrious Decider Leader...America's Codpieced Commander Guy....the Mighty Socialism Slayer from Laissez-Faire Land....has drawn fresh blood yet again. I don't know about you, but I, for one, am thanking my lucky stars (or my Lucky Charms, I can't remember which) that this wildly successful private business CEO, George Walker Bush, came to Washington to save us all from the Socialism Serpent. The Serpent now eating Wall Street.

Socialism, ask any Republican, is a very, very, very, bad monster. Socialism, probably because it's heralded by god-hating atheistic scum, continually threatens us with Pollyanish concepts like "sharing in the profits" ideology. That anti-American ideology is being faithfully fought against by Warrior Leader....and in much the same way that the same Warrior Leader fought against those effeminate, Commie-loving, liberals who wanted America to lose over in our newly Occupied Territories of Iraq. How is Commander Guy fighting the good fight, you ask? By sending someone else to do the fighting.

Campaign As Farce

By The Reverend Published: September 20, 2008

Last night on the Rachel Maddow Show, 9PM MSNBC, Ana Marie Cox from Time.com, who is traveling with the McCain campaign, said that "angry" is the best way to describe the current mood of the McCain campaign. "Angry."

When Maddow asked Cox about the many lies spoken by both McCain and Palin while on the campaign trail.....Cox said she thinks the McCain campaign simply doesn't care what the media thinks or says, or writes, about any of it....and that they will continue to say whatever is necessary to hold on to their conservative base voters.

Insisting He Didn't Misspeak

By The Reverend Published: September 18, 2008

During the campaign this year, John McCain has stated on 22 occasions that the "fundamentals of our economy are strong". That phrase, the same one George W. Bush has used repeatedly, is, obviously, a Republican talking point.

The fundamentals of our economy,.....and I confess I'm no economist but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once,......traditionally, have been described as including the worth of the dollar, the unemployment rate, foreign trade balance, inflation, the stock market, new jobs created, and so forth. Big time money people, not The Reverend, study these fundamentals as they make their big time money decisions.

Appraising The Jewelry

By The Reverend Published: September 17, 2008

Some guy approaches you on the street and offers to trade the big sparkling ring he's wearing for a couple thousand bucks. The ring wearer says it's worth at least twice that much although he hasn't had it fully appraised for years. The ring wearer's buddy admits that he isn't sure how much the ring is actually worth but gives you his business card, tells you to call him if there's a problem, assuring you that everything is on the up and up. You buy the ring for $2K.

You take the offer because you have a buddy in the jewelry business. You take the newly purchased ring, bundle it with other jewelry you own, and take the lot to your jewelry friend. You get paid $3K for the lot. Your jewelry friend, claiming the lot is worth, at a minimum, $3K.....puts the jewelry up as collateral for a $3K stake in a poker tournament.

"We Will Never Put America In This Position Again"

By The Reverend Published: September 16, 2008

According to McCain campaign manager Rick Davis...."this election is not about issues." Instead, as we have found out, Davis and the GOP want this election to be about personalities. That fully explains the Palin VP pick.

There's good reason for the GOP to attempt to steer the election into personalities waters. Talking about issues....issues like the American economic meltdown....are kind of....oh, I don't know....embarassing....for McCain.

The Values of Values Voters, Part 2

By The Reverend Published: September 16, 2008

Among the Values patriots appearing on stage this past weekend to put voice to 2008 Values Voters concerns (not Jesus' concerns, but theirs) were Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Reagan, Phyllis Schlafly, Tom DeLay, Oliver North, and that great uniter, Lou Dobbs. Whenever I ponder Values, traditional or otherwise, I almost always think of the people on that list. Doesn't everybody? Newt Gingrich, Values incarnate, spoke to the crowd, as well as many other GOP brand names, like brand Romney.

McCain: Obama Made Me Lie And Deceive

By The Reverend Published: September 13, 2008

The Flip Wilson defense.

Some voters who had previously thought John McCain was a straight talking independent maverick full of honor and integrity have been disappointed by the Arizona senator's campaign for president. These voters have been bombarded with numerous lies and smears offered up by McCain's campaign, especially in the last week to ten days.

Sarah Palin: Dazed And Confused

By The Reverend Published: September 12, 2008

To excite an unexcited far-right evangelical group of traditionally Republican voters to come out in November and vote for him, it was necessary for John McCain to place a far-right evangelical on his own ticket. This part of the McCain gimmick, or stunt if you prefer, in picking Sarah Palin is understandable. The agents of intolerance on the far-right side of evangelical Christianity had little reason to come out and vote for McCain. Maverick, after all, had once called the Falwell, Robertson bunch........agents of intolerance.

The choice of Palin, then, is perfectly understandable. Gotta' have voters to, you know, vote for ya'...and so by picking Palin McCain has energized the far-right evangelicals to come out and vote for Sarah Palin....and since McCain's name will be alongside Palin's...a vote for McCain as well.

7 Years Later

By The Reverend Published: September 11, 2008

Americans are kind of big on commemorations. Symbolic gestures of remembrance. Prayers. Testimonials. Politicians.

Some yearly commemorations, like Labor Day, have very little connection to their original purpose for remembrance. Those who labor, have labored, and particularly, those few still belonging to labor unions are no longer considered worthy of commemorating. There was minimal attention given nationally to, you know, labor, this past Labor Day. Labor has fallen out of favor.

Sarah Palin: 2008 Gay Bashing Initiative

By The Reverend Published: September 8, 2008

In 2004 Karl Rove knew that the re-election of George W. Bush, because of Iraq, would be extremely close. Karl knew that the Republicans would need a large voter turnout of far right, extremist evangelicals for W. to hold onto the White House. The question for Rove was: How best to incentivize far right, extremist evangelicals to come out to vote? The answer was state gay bashing initiatives.

Biden Sums Up GOP Convention

By The Reverend Published: September 7, 2008

Karl Rove Republicans pride themselves on the concept that THEY, Republicans, create reality. Of course, what Karl meant was that cynical practitioners of the arts of deception, like him, would create a perception of reality to confuse and distort Americans' understanding of what the Bush-Cheney White House was actually doing.....you know.... the "real" reality....which under GOP rule has been rather ugly, divisive and destructive.

Palin: "Future" of GOP

By The Reverend Published: September 4, 2008

It was her first opportunity to introduce herself to the American people. Governor Sarah Palin, John McCain's hastily chosen yet amazingly cynical choice for his running mate, could have spoken last night about inclusiveness, inviting ALL Americans to take her seriously. It seemed like a good opportunity to put her best credible and persuasive face forward. But she didn't

The sports announcer, beauty queen turned small town mayor then small state governor, decided that rather than attempt to persuade undecided and independent voters to take her seriously....she would rally the intolerant and radical right by acting like Anne Coulter or Laura Ingraham.

Operation Hurricane Hail-Mary-Gustav

By The Reverend Published: September 1, 2008

As I watch what's unfolding in the Republican National Convention, this year called Operation Hurricane Hail-Mary-Gustav, I found myself having to raise my legs up higher in higher from my chair because the phony empathetic bullsh*t was beginning to fill my living room. I've known for quite awhile that the Republican Party has no shame, so this farce isn't surprising. At the same time, I cannot escape noticing the rare pungency found in the pharisaical noxiousness of the whole ordeal.

Let me break it down.
