Pearl Jam and 'Content Monitoring'

By The Reverend Published: August 10, 2007

Here's one for the "freedom is on the march" crowd.

Last weekend's Lollapalooza Webcast brought with it some of that "marching freedom", I suspect, with a bit of censoring of Pearl Jam's song "Daughter". Here are the lines that were censored....

"George Bush, leave this world alone." (the second time it was sung); and

- "George Bush find yourself another home."

When asked about the censorship AT&T, one of those communications corporations Bush is trying to grant amnesty to for any, you know, acts of complicity to eavesdrop illegally on Americans, said this....

AT&T informed Lollapalooza that portions of the show were in fact missing from the webcast, and that their content monitor had made a mistake in cutting them.

"Content monitor".....sounds so 1st amendment-like, doesn't it? Hard to find a good "content monitor" these days. Always making those silly mistakes of cutting out anything that sounds critical of the Leader. Stupid "content monitor".

Expect more of this marching freedom in the future. And keep in mind....."they hate us for our freedoms".
